If it feels like only recently Triumph updated its Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 … it was! Those 2025 changes focused on improved electronics, a new ride-by-wire throttle opening the door to cornering traction control and ABS, cruise control, quickshifter and additional rider modes. But Triumph wasn’t done there, and for 2026 both bikes gain engine upgrades from the Daytona 660 for a significant increase in power from 81 horsepower to 95 horsepower, torque also rising from 64Nm to 68Nm. This comes through the switch from single to individual throttle bodies, a new airbox, larger exhaust valves and more, all carried over from the Daytona for a decisive boost to performance. Not bad for just £200 on the price of the Trident and £300 for the Tiger Sport!

2026 Trident 660

With this power increase for the 660 and pending arrival of the new 115 horsepower Trident 800 Triumph’s ‘baby’ triple is suddenly looking a lot more serious for 2026! While the extra power grabs the attention there are further changes to the bike as well, including a reshaped tank, upgraded rear shock with adjustable rebound and preload and new colours comprising yellow or grey on top of the standard plain white. As before the three-cylinder engine remains the star of the show, and a stand-out feature in a class otherwise dominated by parallel twins while the balance of performance and size make it a perfect first ‘big’ bike. The extra power meanwhile helps it keep pace with rivals like the CB750 Hornet, KTM 790 Duke, Suzuki GSX8-S, Yamaha MT-07 and others like them. If you’re still on an A2 licence you can still restrict the 660 as required, upgrading to the full power as and when you pass you upgrade to a full licence.

2026 Tiger Sport 660

We enjoyed living with the Tiger Sport 660 for a month, appreciating the character and performance of its creamy triple engine and versatile balance of sportiness and practicality. Like the Trident, it strikes a great balance of size, price and performance for riders of all experience levels, the uprated engine simply promising more of the good stuff and a little extra grunt if you accept the invitation to load up the panniers and go for a tour, or if you regularly ride with a pillion. Other upgrades for this 2026 model year include a bigger 18.6-litre tank, reshaped bodywork around the radiator to better shield your legs from wind and rain and a choice of three new colours. Other than that it’s as before, the price increasing by just £300.
