Auto Trader Car Hunt Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions") apply to the Auto Trader Car Hunt promotion. By entering into the prize draw, you agree to accept and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

If you find a promotional toy car, you must retain it and write down where you found it, you will need both the car and its location for verification purposes.

If you find a promotional toy car, do not share or expose its unique code with or to anyone other than Auto Trader (@AutoTraderUK on Instagram) (who will verify it). The QR code links to entry instructions that can help you enter correctly. Do not share your unique code with anyone other than Auto Trader!

Maximum one entry per person across the entire Promotion Period. If you find additional promotional toy cars, you must not move or tamper with them, nor enter them as an additional entries.

Eligibility:

This promotion, the Auto Trader Car Hunt Promotion (the "Promotion") is open to legal residents of the United Kingdom who are 17 years of age or older and who are in possession of a full and valid UK driving licence. Employees or workers of Auto Trader Ltd ("Auto Trader" or the "Promoter") or of contractors or agencies involved in the execution of this Promotion directly or indirectly and their immediate families are not eligible to enter this Promotion.
You agree that in order to participate in this Promotion (including, without limitation, in order to win any Prize), you are eligible to do so and will fully comply with these Terms and Conditions and all applicable laws and regulations. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter.
The Promoter will not accept entries that:
1. are received after the Promotion Period;
2. are political in nature;
3. feature content which is likely to be inconsistent with the brand values of the Promoter or which is otherwise considered offensive or derogatory by the Promoter;
4. are automatically generated by computer;
5. are completed by third parties or in bulk;
6. are illegible, have been altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with; and/or
7. are incomplete.

Promotion Period and Promotion Locations:

The Promotion will open at 12:01 a.m. GMT 24 February 2025 and close at 11:59 p.m. GMT 9 March 2025 (hereby known as the"Promotion Period"), and each location listed below ("Promotion Location") will become active on the following dates (from 12:01 a.m.) until 11:59 p.m. GMT 9 March 2025:

How to Enter:

Maximum one entry per person across the entire Promotion Period. No purchase necessary. Internet access, a smartphone and an Instagram account are required.
During the Promotion Period, in each Promotion Location, Auto Trader will post clues across its @AutoTraderUK Instagram account suggesting where promotional toy cars may be hidden.
Entrants must identify that local area within the Promotion Location and find a promotional toy car that has been hidden.
If an entrant finds a promotional toy car, they will find a QR code and a unique identifier code on its underside. Entrants can scan the QR code using their smartphone to take them to a landing page which will have instructions on how to enter (reproduced in brief below).
There is a maximum of one entry per person across the entire Promotion Period. Entrants may not submit additional promotional toy cars if they find more than one. Duplicate or bulk entries may result in disqualification and the Promoter reserves the right to check, verify and disqualify entrants submitting duplicate or bulk entries. Entrants may not use multiple accounts, scripts, tools, organised groups or third party services to enter.
To enter, the entrant must post an Instagram story and the image must include the toy car (but should not show the unique identifier code on the underside, which you should not share with anyone but the Promoter). Entrants must visibly tag @AutoTraderUK in the Instagram story for their entry to be valid. The Instagram story must be published before the end of the Promotion Period and entrants must keep the story live for its full 24hr duration. The Promoter will be collecting entries via Instagram Stories. Entrants must ensure their Instagram account is set to public so that Auto Trader can view their entry.
Entrants must also direct message @AutoTraderUK with the unique code located on the underside of the toy car for their entry to be valid. This must be submitted within 24 hours of the entrant's Instagram story being posted.
Entrants should not share their unique identifier code with anyone but Auto Trader, and must keep their toy car and record where they found it in the event that they are selected as the Winner.
The Promoter has the right to reshare entrants' Instagram story entry content to its own social media platforms, and record and store story entries for the purposes of counting entries and administering the Promotion. By entering this Promotion, entrants agree to grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes.

Prize:

The Prize is 1 x Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, 84kWh 650PS AWD – Performance Blue (the "Prize") with a value of c.£65,700.
You agree to the following additional details and conditions relating to the Prize:
1. If the Prize is to be driven on a public highway, insurance cover must be obtained by the Winner prior to collection of the Prize.
2. Maintenance, services and running costs of the vehicle are the responsibility of the Winner from the date of ownership. This date will be confirmed with the Winner in writing following the Winner’s acceptance of the Prize.
3. The Winner will be responsible for arranging and paying road tax on the Prize.
4. The vehicle warranty and its duration will be confirmed with the Winner before delivery/collection of the Prize.
5. Any pictures depicting the Prize on any media including press advertisements, posters or TV commercials are indicative only and the actual prize may vary from the depictions. The Promotion does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of the product being offered as the Prize.
6. The Prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a Winner is unable to use the Prize as stated. The Winner will be liable for all costs and expenses not stated relating to claiming the Prize.
7. The Winner will not be able to re-sell the vehicle for three months following delivery. Should the Winner wish to sell during the first three months, they must obtain the consent of the Promoter by emailing socialmedia@autotrader.co.uk.
8. The Winner will be responsible for its own electric charging arrangements (no electric charger will be provided by the Promoter).
The Prize is provided and fulfilled by the Promoter and is non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No cash equivalent will be offered. There is a single prize pool across all ten Promotion Locations with one Prize in total on offer.
In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize for an alternative prize of equal or greater value.

Winner Selection and Notification:

A winner will be randomly selected from all the valid entries after the closing date of the Promotion Period via a verifiably random computer process (the "Winner").
The Winner will be contacted via direct message on Instagram within 14 days of the end of the Promotion Period, and the Winner will be required to respond to accept the Prize and provide details within seven days of initial contact.
If the Winner refuses to accept the Prize, fails to respond during the time period for acceptance of the Prize, becomes uncontactable (after reasonable attempts), does not meet the entry requirements or otherwise becomes ineligible for the Prize, the Prize will be forfeited, and a new winner will be selected. Reserve winners will be randomly selected in the same way as the initial Winner under clause 5.1 for this purpose.

Prize delivery:

The Prize will be available for home delivery or collection from the retailer site (travel expenses will be reimbursed by Auto Trader up to £200) after the Winner accepts the Prize, as notified by Auto Trader.
In order to facilitate Prize fulfilment, the Winner may be required to provide personal information including their postal address and driving licence information. The delay or refusal of this information after reasonable attempts by Auto Trader may affect the delivery of the Prize or disqualify the Winner and the Prize forfeited, and a new winner may be selected.

Further Conditions:

The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants. The Promoter may require such information as it considers reasonably necessary for this purpose and the Prize may be withheld unless and until the Promoter is satisfied with the verification.
The Promoter and its agencies reserve the right to disqualify any entrant it reasonably believes is attempting to fraudulently enter, cheat, or compromise the system either by technical means (e.g. scripting or automation), or manual means (e.g. creation of multiple entries), or by manipulation, forgery or duplication. The Promoter and its agencies will moderate entries during and after the Promotion Period and will exclude ineligible entries before winner selection.
The Promoter reserves all rights to take whatever action that it deems appropriate in respect of any entrant whose conduct and/or entry is contrary to the spirit or intention of the Promotion, which may include, without limitation, any participant or winner:
1. not adhering to these Terms and Conditions;
2. found, or suspected, to be engaging in any form of cheating, fraud, or unethical behaviour;
3. behaving in an inappropriate way, whilst at any Promotion Location for the purposes of the Promotion;
4. failing to comply with the directions of the Promoter or acting in a manner that is disruptive, rude, dangerous to themselves or to the public or is, in the opinion of the Promoter, anti-social in any manner or which causes a disturbance or nuisance to others; and/or
5. who is drunk, intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, underage, abusive, threatening, making or inciting racial abuse, chanting, using offensive language, making obscene gestures, throwing items, behaving anti-socially, carrying laser pens, bringing animals (except guide dogs), carrying offensive weapons or illegal substances, carrying candles, climbing any structure, making excessive noise, offering any item for sale, damaging the location of any hidden car, smoking, or engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct, including harassment, abuse, or any behaviour that disrupts the smooth conduct of the Promotion.
Such action by the Promoter may include, without limitation, disqualifying the entrant and/or their entry from the Promotion, revoking their winning status, withholding the Prize, or awarding the Prize to someone else.
No responsibility is accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed or as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure of any kind. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
If the Promotion is not capable of running as planned for unforeseen reasons including but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, dishonesty, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or does not comply with these Terms and Conditions and/or to cancel, modify or suspend the Promotion or invalidate any affected entries.
The Promoter may refuse to award a Prize in the event of any entrant's fraud, dishonesty, breach or non-entitlement under these Terms and Conditions or seek recovery of its value if the Prize has already been awarded.
Participants engage in the Promotion at their own risk.

Publicity and Privacy:

The Winner will be required to participate in any reasonable publicity arising from the Promotion including the use of their name, any image submitted, and their participation in a recording of the Prize delivery in both audio and video formats for use by Auto Trader to further publicise this Promotion and/or any future promotions.
The name and county of the Winner can be obtained by writing to the Promoter at the address below (addressed to the social media team) or by email at: socialmedia@autotrader.co.uk within three months of the closing date of the Promotion Period. Should entrants wish to withdraw consent for their name and county to be included on any winners list, they must notify the Promoter before the closing date of the Promotion Period. Provided that the Promoter may still be required to provide winner information to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
The Promoter will only process your personal information as set out in the privacy notice located at https://www.autotrader.co.uk/privacy-policy.

Liability:

The Promoter together with any associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person's negligence) in connection with this Promotion or accepting or using the Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Nothing will exclude the Promoter's liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
The Promoter will not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations or any delay in performing its obligations within these Terms and Conditions if an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs caused by (but not limited to) global or regional health crises, weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, epidemic, pandemic, famine, plague or other natural calamities and acts of God, or any other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter.

General:

By entering this Promotion, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
The Promoter's decisions are binding in all matters relating to this Promotion, and no correspondence shall be entered into. In the event of a dispute as to any entry, the Promoter’s decision will be binding and final.
The Terms and Conditions of this Promotion shall be interpreted and applied on the basis of English Law and the Courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
