Phill began his journalistic career in 2001, and after spending time working for local and regional newspapers, moved to the motoring press in 2005. He was Motoring Writer for Fleet News and in 2008 moved to Dubai, writing for Car Middle East and AutoMiddleEast.com, before spending three years at Evo Middle East and crankandpiston.com. After returning to the UK in 2014, he worked as a freelancer for a variety of automotive and luxury outlets around the world, including Autocar, the Daily Telegraph, the National Abu Dhabi, Etihad Inflight and Emirates Portfolio.
Phill joined Auto Trader at the start of 2017 as Senior Road Tester, and spends most of his time driving as many new cars as possible. When he’s not doing that, he likes cycling, running and playing driving games on the PS4. Not at the same time.
