It was only in 2021 Triumph announced its ambition to compete at the top end of motocross and enduro with a new range of bikes developed with the help of stars of the respective disciplines Ricky Carmichael and Ivan Cervantes. At the time Triumph CEO Nick Bloor said “We are 100 per cent committed to making a long lasting impact in this highly competitive and demanding world, with a single-minded ambition to deliver a winning motorcycle line-up for a whole new generation of Triumph riders.
Off the back of that Triumph launched its TF 250-X last year and has been running it in the MX2 category of the Supermotocross World Championship. That was just the warm-up act, though, this new TF 450-RC for the top-level 450cc MXGP class and, like the 250, designed in close cooperation with Carmichael himself and carrying his initials and a custom graphics scheme in recognition of his input.
The new 450cc single at the heart of the bike comes with all the trick bits and includes a rider tuneable engine management to adjust traction and launch control via the MX Tune Pro phone app and configure the bike to each event. Or you can just go with an engine map personally tuned to Carmichael’s preferred settings, the flipside of that being no excuses if you don’t smoke the rest of the field at the first time of asking.
A top-drawer mix of parts includes an XTrig Holeshot Device to preload the front suspension and help the rider get the perfect start, while the standard stainless exhaust can be replaced with an optional Akrapovič item for extra bling. This also comes with its own dedicated engine map.
No power figures have yet been released but with that engine and a wet weight of just 109kg the TF 450-RC won’t be hanging about, prices starting at £10,695.
Under newly signed team boss and former world champion Paul Edmondson the enduro side of the programme is also taking shape, Triumph Racing confirming entry to the 2025 FIM SuperEnduro and EnduroGP World Championships. To that end it’s signed British star Johnny Walker as both aim to reach the top step.
“To be the first rider to represent Triumph Racing in enduro is special,” said Walker. “My bike feels great already, which makes my job a lot easier! Hopefully we can make a strong start, put the bike on the top step, and claim some championships!”
