With the full UK specification of the Kia PV5 electric vans yet to be confirmed (it’s apparently coming in late 2025 and explains all the left-hand drive pictures), new specification information has been revealed alongside new variants. So, take this as planned specification for the UK until it’s confirmed otherwise.
You’ve no doubt seen our news items flowing thick and fast about the PV5 to-date, instead of a new story every time a new tidbit emerges this article will serve as the single point from now on. With that in mind, it’s been confirmed that the PV5 will be offered in three body styles - 'Passenger', 'Cargo' and 'Chassis Cab' and the vehicles will be built on the company’s E-GMP.S platform, a battery-electric skateboard platform designed to be turned into multiple vehicle types. Here’s everything we know so far:

What Are The Major Differences Between Each Kia PV5 Variant?

Split into three distinct variants, the Kia PV5 will be initially available in three variants - 'Passenger', 'Cargo' and 'Chassis Cab' - here are the major differences between them:

Kia PV5 Passenger

‘Passenger’ will feature a three-row seat configuration, which can be changed around to suit any requirements for more seats or more cargo space, and has been developed to make as much sense as a taxi as it will a family vehicle. It sounds very innovative, especially when you consider that you could set up one seat in the front leaving a space for luggage next to the driver, two seats in the middle then three at the very back.

Kia PV5 Cargo

‘Cargo’ in its high roof version will offer up to 5.1 cubic metres of load volume, with standard, long, and high-roof versions set to be available. Users will also be able to add an optional L-track mounting system and V2L functionality allowing external devices to be powered by the vehicle’s battery from points in the cargo space.
The Standard and Long variants will offer a typical two-seat passenger layout, with a three-seat layout available as an optional extra. The High Roof specification will feature an additional roof console as standard. In the two-seat layout, a walk-through spec will be offered featuring a sinking passenger seat and partition with a sliding door, providing easier access to the cargo area.

Kia PV5 Chassis Cab

‘Chassis Cab’ will use the same cabin as the ‘Cargo’ with an empty space taking up the rest of the vehicle’s 4.52m length behind it capable of supporting a range of conversions such as drop sides and freezer boxes.

What Other Variants Of The Kia PV5 Will Be Available?

We’ve been told that multiple new variants will be available, with two confirmed. The first is a ‘Crew’ conversion with more seating and a cargo space, and the second will be a wheelchair accessible vehicle. There’s also murmurings about a Light Camper version, which will please Auto Trader’s campervan consumers!

The front motor will produce up to 120kW and 250Nm of torque and provide a range of up to 248 miles. Fast charging is reported to take 30 minutes when charging from 10% to 80% battery capacity..

What Tech And Features Will The Kia PV5 Offer Drivers?

The Kia PV5 will feature a seven-inch instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch main infotainment and navigation screen. It will be an Android Automotive operating system-based infotainment system with over-the-air updates. V2L capability will also be available on selected models.

When Will The Kia PV5 Go On Sale?

Sales of the PV5 models will begin in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2025, followed by other markets in 2026. Conversion models will start production between 2025 and 2026. Pre-orders are expected start in the first half of 2025 for the Korean and European markets.
