While best known as a TV chef and one half of the Hairy Bikers duo, Dave Myers was also a much-loved member of the motorcycling community, and his death from cancer last year inspired a huge ride-out of more than 46,000 participants to his home town of Barrow-in-Furness in a sign of solidarity. Over £127,000 was raised along the way and the Dave Day charity was born, with another ride-out taking place this weekend with the aim of celebrating his life and raising more money for charities he held dear, including NSPCC Childline and CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Included in the fund-raising activity is your chance to win this customised Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 painted to commemorate Dave’s love of flowery Hawaiian shirts and further embellished with various personalised trim pieces. A matching Merlin helmet is also part of the prize. A fitting tribute to the man, and a chance to contribute to the charities he held dear. Tickets cost £10 each from the Raffall website, with entries closing at 6:27pm on this year’s Dave Day of Saturday 21 June or when the last ticket is sold, whichever comes first. Either way, best be quick!
