2025 is now fully under way and, with it, thoughts naturally turn to events and activities you may be looking forward to in the coming year. Good news? For motorcycle buffs the choice is wider than ever!
Racing in its many and glorious forms is an obvious attraction, going from big ticket events like MotoGP at Silverstone (now taking place in May) through to World Superbikes and British Superbikes. But competition goes beyond the track, with everything from a UK FIM Trial World Championship round to motocross, road racing and quirkier events like the Weston Beach Race. Meanwhile there’s the Adventure Bike Rider Festival, many and various classic shows, Goodwood Festival of Speed, The Distinguished Gentleman’s ride, the Ace Cafe Reunion and many more. We’ve whittled the diary down to 10 to help you choose, with options in chronological order to cater to whatever biking tribe you belong to.

Stafford Classic Show | 26-27 April

For fans of classic bikes of all types there are traditionally two big weekend indoor/outdoor festivals bookending the biking season, both at Stafford Showground. The season opener is the International Classic Motorcycle Show running 26-27 April followed in October by the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show. At both you can expect dozens of club stands, a Bonhams auction, celebrity guests, a massive outdoor autojumble and much more.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride | 18 May

One of the newer and quirkier motorcycling events, but also one of the largest given its global reach. The ‘DGR’ is an organised charity ride-out with a dress code described as ‘dapper’ (think tweeds and open-face helmets) on retro or classic bikes, though anything on two wheels goes in reality. It’s proved so successful it now has hundreds of locations and starting points across UK and around the world, has secured commercial sponsorship from the likes of Triumph and offers prizes up to and including bikes for the biggest fundraisers.

MotoGP, Silverstone | 23-25 May

Britain’s biggest, most glamourous – and fastest – motorcycle sporting event, the British Grand Prix is again at its regular home of Silverstone but this year’s date has come forward from its traditional July/August slot to late May. It’s a three-day event, although the race proper is on the Sunday. Be prepared for the best riders and bikes on the planet on Britain’s most celebrated circuit. Day tickets start at £25 to more like £85 for race day itself.

ABR Festival, Ragley Hall | 27-29 June

Tagged as ‘Britain’s Biggest Motorcycle Festival’ this has grown into a must-attend phenomenon. Organised by Adventure Bike Rider magazine, it’s held in the rolling grounds of the gentrified Ragley Hall in Warwickshire, is renowned for its quality facilities, food and the vast array of activities. These include off-road circuits on site, demo rides from all the leading manufacturers, live music, talks, trade stands, great camping facilities and more. Attendance is currently capped at 18,500, only full three-day tickets are available and it routinely sells out – so get in quick!

Goodwood Festival of Speed | 10-13 July

Another humungous motorsport festival that’s widely respected as the best of its type in the world. One of two major events held each year, Festival of Speed is a massive event attracting motorsport greats and masses of stands at Goodwood House and centred on a series of demo hillclimbs up the house drive. The Revival, held at the adjacent Goodwood Circuit from 12-14 September, is more like a traditional classic race meet but with a charming vibe thanks to the period stands and retro dress code. Both events are car-focussed but bikes also play a big part and, for anyone with petrol in their veins, there’s plenty to enjoy on two wheels and four.

Malle Mile | 17-20 July

Another fairly recent addition to the motorcycling calendar and one, a bit like the DGR, celebrating hipster retro style. Organised by Malle London, the Malle Mile is a motorcycle race and festival held by Malle London at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire. A celebration of motorcycle culture, style and spirit, expect multiple classes of informal, fun-packed off-road racing, stalls, bands, trophies for categories such as best-dressed rider and much more.

FIM World Trial Championship | 5-7 September

If you prefer your bike competition away from the tarmac there’s an impressive choice of off-road events in 2025, ranging from the British round of MXGP in Winchester on 22 June through to the legendary Weston Beach Race in Weston-Super-Mare in October and your chance to see hundreds of motocross bikes going flat out across the sands. Our pick, though, is the British round of the FIM World Trial Championship, which this year takes place near Kettering from 5-7 September. Go and you will be astounded at what the best trials riders can do.

Ace Cafe Reunion and Brighton Burn Up | 6-7 September

Changing direction entirely, how about this? If you’ve a fondness for the golden era of great British bikes, an affinity for the rocker style and want to take part in an event like no other, this is it. The annual Reunion attracts thousands to the Ace Cafe’s revived site on the North Circular before riding en-masse to Madeira Drive on Brighton’s seafront for a charity celebration of all things bikes, rock’n’roll and more. Expect a great ride, bands, stalls, food and more and lots and lots of bikes!

British Superbikes finale, Brands Hatch | 17-19 October

We’ve covered the British Grand Prix but the racing calendar goes a long way beyond that. There’s the British round of the Superbike World Championship at Donington in July while the domestic British Superbikes (BSB) kicks off at Oulton Park in early May, classic venues like Cadwell for the August Bank Holiday and season finale at Brands Hatch all great spectacles. If you haven’t made the pilgrimage yet maybe 2025 is the year to make it to the Isle of Man for the legendary TT, this year taking place at the end of May and into the first week of June.

Motorcycle Live | 15-25 November

If all that racing and riding leaves you breathless there are two massive motorcycling shows either end of the biking season that are must-attends for any keen biker! The MCN Motorcycle Show takes place at London’s ExCel from 14-16 February while November’s Motorcycle Live event at Birmingham’s NEC is the perfect way to round out the year and typically your first opportunity to see – and sit on – all the hottest bike for the next year ahead.
