Volkswagen Scirocco Coupe 2014‑2017(5 reviews)

I bought a New Scirocco GT from my local dealer, couldn't be happier with the car! Rides a treat, looks brilliant, practical for the kind of car it is, as its the 1.4 petrol I regularly see 55mpg+ on my 15mile commute to work. Would recomend.

After careful consideration, I decided to buy the new shape Scirocco GT. Even though its a 3 door coupe it is a practical care for myself. I have a dalmatian puppy who happily goes on the back seat, there is ample space in the boot and in the driver cabin. It is fair to say this is the best car I have owned to date. I bought the 2 litre TDI 184 in automatic, the DSG gearbox is out of this world, love the flappy paddles giving the ability to switch between auto and manual. The only downside for me is running costs, I was expecting higher mpg however the power and fun elements push this aside.

I purchased a 2015 (65) VW Scirocco 6 months ago and have had to sell it asap! I had high hopes for the Scirocco especially being the R version but all i can say is i was terribly disappointed!!
The car itself was just awful! unreliable and I lost a lot of money on it!
Firstly, the emissions light kept coming on and going off every other week, I had to have a new headlight on the offside being it filled with condensation!
The rear folding seats on one side suddenly decided not to fold.
the turbo gauge on the dash kept rattling very loudly as the car accelerated whether it be fast or slow.
The amount of fuel it was driving was horrific! I understand it is a tuned car but i have owned much more expensive vehicles than this is the past for example Porsches and Aston Martins and this Scirocco would out drink them all!
It is very plasticy inside and after spending a lot of money of this i genuinely thought it would be more refined. yes it has leather seats but that is about as far as the refinery goes!
I had the DSG version but almost wished i had chosen the manual. It changed gear far too quickly getting into 6th gear way before it should so when you was accelerating away from a roundabout or junction, instead or accelerating away nicely the car would turn into a complete snail unless you then applied more pressure to the throttle then it would drop down one sometimes two gears and then go off at a ridiculous speed.
It does have power i will give it that and it is quite quick but the problem with it is, it needs to be four wheel drive! all that power going to the front wheels means one thing, a lot of wheel spin and not a lot of go. however, once it does find grip it will take off and keep accelerating way up and over 100mph.
My final point is road noise. it is so noisy in the cabin that you have to turn the music right up to drown out the road noise and the same goes for the bluetooth when you are on the phone
looks are the only thing it has DONT BUY!!!

I bought this car six months ago and have been nothing but amazed by it. The 2.0L diesel engine is fun and sporty but also very economical when driven normally. The figures suggest about 50+mpg I'm getting 39 mpg but I am a very enthusiastic driver.
In terms of space I really cant fault it, I have only a small family so the two front seats offer more than enough room for two adults. The rear although cramped in terms of headroom also has plenty of space and I'm glad they kept it 4 seats as a 5th would be tiny. My young son loves the back and that same dipping roofline that makes it awkward for adults makes it a cocoon for him.
In terms of handling it has an extraordinary amount of grip, and can be thrown through corners with ease. The driver aids do a great job of keeping you firmly on the road even when the driver is not helping. The acceleration is not as brutal as the petrol's but it is more than enough to enjoy yourself whilst still having a very efficient vehicle.
In terms of interior trim although some reviews say it is dated I like it. Everything is where you expect and very easy to use the touch screen is great and has a great built in sat nav. I really cant fault this vehicle inside or out.
I love this car and will be keeping it for a long time and when I do trade in it will need to be something very special to get me to move to another vehicle.

I bought this car new 6 months ago and what can I say ?
Brutal acceleration (hits 60mph in around 5 seconds) the DSG auto box upshifts so quickly, I just love this car. Set the adaptive dampers and gearbox into 'sport mode' and it keeps up with anything on the twisty country roads, I've had so much fun driving it. Launch it from the lights with your average BMW/ Audi man next to you and watch them disappear in your mirror....seriously quick car !
Good level of equipment, superb build quality and first class customer service from my VW dealer.
It returns around 25-30mpg average and 37mpg's the best I've attained, but I didn't buy it for economy !!!
It's quite a rare car too, I've only seen two Scirocco R's on the road since ownership and they were pre-facelift versions.
If you want an exclusive fast hatchback I'd thoroughly recommend the Scirocco R !
