So good, we bought another.

Land Rover Freelander 2

We were so pleased with our 60 reg Freelander SD4 XS, which gave us 5 years of comfortable, reliable travel that we bought another via Autotrader website.

We had fantastic service from Marshalls of Cambridge when we part exchanged (at long distance) for a 64 reg Freelander Metropolis. The car was prepared, serviced, MOT'd and delivered the 150 miles to us in an immaculate condition. We have been given a 2 year Land Rover backed warranty. I cannot fault the process we have experienced.

The Freelander itself is extremely well equipped, and is very easy to drive. The SD4 engine is powerful enough to move the car easily and smoothly through the auto gearbox, and with its lofty driving position, it makes driving a pleasure.

In the Metropolis trim it feels a bit like a mini Range Rover, you will want for very little, and it looks great.

It is a great motorway car as it cruises well showing just below 2000rpm at 70mph, and you can see a long way ahead.

My normal fuel consumption is about 33 miles per gallon (tank to tank) which reads about 34.5mpg on the trip computer.

The only shortcoming is the boot which is a little small (short) with the seats in place, but for the two of us this does not matter.

We have driven a Discovery Sport a couple times and prefer the Freelander for ride comfort.

BETTER THAN A RANGE ROVER !!!

Land Rover Freelander 2

NORMAN12 | 9th October '16

WOW !! BETTER THAN A RANGE ROVER AND JUST AS GOOD A DRIVING POSITION WITHOUT THE WORRY OF AIR SUSPENSION FAULTS ! ALL ROUND INDEPENDANT COIL SPRINGS ARE SO COMFORTABLE. HSE SPEC IS GREAT AND THE MERIDIAN SOUND SYSTEM IS FABULOUS. THE AUTO BOX IS AS SMOOTH AS SILK AND SELECTION OF VARIUOS TRACKTION CONTROLS IS EASY TO USE. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SNOW !! HAVN'T HAD IT LONG BUT I KNOW THIS IS A KEEPER ALONG WITH MY OLD 2003 XJ6, PROBABLY THE TWO BEST CARS ON THE ROAD. ( MAYBE I'M BIAS )

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF ONE, GO FOR THE HSE LEVEL AND CRUISE TO YOUR DESTINATION.

Reliable, comfortable and economical

Land Rover Freelander 2

I have just become the proud owner of a 13 reg Land Rove Freelander 2.

It is probably the best car I have ever driven. Prior to this one I have been driving Volvos and found them to be very comfortable but this Freelander beats them all in looks and comfort. I get forty miles per gallon on the motorway doing between fifty five and sixty and around town about thirty five.the Satnav is fantastic and I have had no trouble with it whatsoever. You can store ten CD's on the hardrive and it has a fabulous Meridean sound system.

Overall I love this jeep even though it does not hold quite as much as the Volvo v70. But it is reliable, comfortable and economical and drives beautifully.

Freelander HSE SD4 2013

Land Rover Freelander 2

I have driven many Landys over the years. The first one I owned was a Series 3 SWB so I do like the brand but am fully aware of the highs and lows that can come with them!

This is my 2nd Freelander from new and have enjoyed town shopping, country lanes, motorway and driving across muddy fields to get to our pony.

When not fully of horsey stuff it has a wakeboard in the back (have to let one of the seats down to slide it in) and has shown itself to be a very useful family everyday vehicle.

The driving position is superb, the car is not very wide and can easily fit into most parking spaces unlike the larger siblings. The dash is very well set out and it will tank along the motorway at over 80 all day if you ask it to (obviously I have not driven over 70 but a friend told me)

The SD4 engine is quite nippy if you know how to get the most of it, though be warned, if you want to get onto a roundabout quickly then put it into 'sport' first.

Pros:

Throw any weather at it and it will get you home.

Not had any reliability problems with this or my previous 09 reg.

Strong engine, fabulous torque

High quality look and feel to the cabin.

5 star NCAP, with airbags all over - one of the safest family cars to have.

Drives like a car not a heavy 4x4 (steering lighter than Evoque)

Good size boot

Sound system is fab,you can download CD's to the hard drive.

This is a proper 4x4 if you need it to be, & great in the snow. Have rescued friends from their snow stuck Tiguan and XC90!

Cons:

Am lucky if I can get 28 MPG during everyday driving

Passengers in the back can get thrown round a bit if you do not take bends a little more carefully then when you are the only one in the car.

SATNAV is awful, cannot believe the are still using this in new 100k Rangies! Painfully slow, often gets it wrong

Service/insurance costs are high

Had brilliant experience at Harwoods Edenbridge for buying and servicing, and I intend to keep this one for as long as possible.

Well Done Landrover!

Land Rover Freelander 2

We have been dealing with Landrover Doncaster garage for a few years now and can not recommend them enough. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the staff are all friendly and helpfull.

Our few warranty issues (leaking brake light, dash rattle & software update for aircon control) have always taken seriously and the quality of service work is completed in a timely manner and no evidence of poor workmanship. On collection the care is always cleaner than dropped off and handed back in a very friendly manner.

The sales team (dealt with 2 of them now) are not at all pushy and more than happy to either answer questions or let you simply get on with it in peace!

Like all garages, do not expect a great part ex. valuation.

Well Done Landrover!

Ref Landrover Freelander...it is a great shame that this is now not in manfacture and replaced by the Discovery Sport. The Discovery Sport is of course much more expesensive and makes for a more difficult buy. The Freelander 2 has proven economical so far for us with over 26k on a set of 4 tyres and giving about 40mpg normal driving and about 30mpg towing our caravan. The drive is comfortable and quiet compared to any decent car, if not better with the higher ride height.

This is our first 4x4 so maybe biased on reviewing, but very pleased with this as it suites a family lifestyle with camping also in mind.

An off road experience suprised me after previously having allot of experience in the very capable Defender. The gournd clearance and electronic traction control settings are simple ace. Not many cars you can stop on a muddly slope and reverse up with no tyre slippage!

We have a black & white edition and this is probably the best value one in range, unless you really want leather. It has all the usual toys like elect windows, aircon (not clim' control) and cruise control.

Its acceleration is more than adequate and will cruise quite happily and quietly at high speeds.
