We are pleased to announce, after judging over 30 models across 11 categories, we have crowned the BMW S 1000 RR as our Bike of the Year 2019.
Ten years after the first generation of RR first mesmerised the world of motorcycles, the 2019 BMW S 1000 RR is a major departure from previous models. Agile, accurate and refined, it has entered a new level of superbike performance. Along with picking up two awards for the RR (Overall Winner and Best Sports Bike), German manufacturer, BMW also scored the Best Adventurer trophy for their R 1250 GS Adventure. With so many new scooters and motorcycles on the market today, our Best Bike Awards aim to help every biker, from first-time riders to daredevils seeking an adrenaline fix, find their perfect two-wheel ride. This year saw Maria Costello MBE, who once held the Guinness World Record for being the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man TT, join motorcycling journalists and road testers, Phil West and Jon Quirk, in riding thousands of miles to test over 30 models and compile 2019’s list of the most impressive bikes on the market. Reliability, running costs, appearance, practicality, performance and technical advancements were all considered by the judges as they put together this well-informed list of winners.
