Having always admired the IVECO Daily large van’s durability and practicality, any improvements to the model are always welcome - check out my review of the IVECO eDaily to get a sense of what was available. There are a host of updates to the third generation of the Daily now available, including a “ready to use” dashboard designed for improved comfort, new human-machine interface (HMI) with a standard 10.25-inch fully digital configurable cluster and new infotainment centre, keyless entry and go, new connectivity features such as remote controls and profile settings, and new advanced driver assistance systems such as Vulnerable Road User (VRU) protection and Autonomous Drive Level 2.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the key improvements to the new IVECO Daily, referred to by the manufacturer as the ‘Model Year 2024 IVECO Daily’.

What Payload Improvements Does The New IVECO Offer Drivers?

IVECO has looked at ways to increase the vehicle’s payload (since the vehicle is heavier than most large vans and that eats into available payloads), and has opted to offer a new rear leaf spring suspension with progressive stiffness as an option. It enables the vehicle to carry heavier loads with performance comparable to double-leaf suspension. As a result, payloads in the range now vary from around 900kg to over 1300kg depending on the weight, powertrain and body type of the Daily you opt for.

What Powertrains Are Available On The New IVECO Daily?

The new Daily is also available in diesel, electric and bio-CNG versions. In the diesel engine range, you can opt for a 2.3-litre or 3.0-litre diesel engine offering power outputs from 116hp to 210hp. There are also alternative fuel powertrains to choose from, including a 136hp Daily Natural Power model running on compressed natural gas, and the electric eDaily. These are all available in all vehicle formats. All 3.5-tonne models are rear-wheel drive.

What Safety Equipment And Driver Aids Does The New IVECO Daily Offer Drivers?

The New IVECO Daily offers a comprehensive range of safety and driver assistance technology. These include:
- Traffic Jam Assist, which helps the vehicle automatically follow traffic flow. - Advanced Lane Centering, which steers the vehicle to keep it centred in the lane you’re using. - Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go. - Intelligent Speed Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition Safety Warnings. - AEBS and City Brake, which protects vulnerable road users. - The new Turn Assist function, which automatically activates the brake to avoid impact. - Blind Spot Warning. - Blind Spot Warning Information System, which warns if a cyclist is approaching the curb side of the vehicle. - Rear Cross Traffic Braking, which helps the driver reverse and provides info about vehicles and obstacles around the vehicle, braking automatically if required. - Door Opening Warning to alert the driver if a vehicle or cyclist is approaching upon trying to exit the vehicle. The New IVECO Daily also introduces passive safety features which meet GSR B requirements making it the only body-on-frame LCV to comply with the new standards in the 3.5-tonne category. The body-on-frame structure has also been strengthened with the chassis front redesign.

What In-Cab Features Does The New IVECO Daily Offer Drivers?

There are a huge range of in-cab offered in the New IVECO Daily, they include the following:
- A new dashboard with open storage compartments. - Dedicated spaces for mobile devices. - USB type A+C sockets. - A new wireless charger. - The new 10.25-inch configurable full digital cluster as standard across the whole range. - Three infotainment screen layouts are available and selected by using the stalk lever button. - Mobile device mirroring. - In-cab functions such as lights, windows and climate can be controlled with voice commands through IVECO Driver Pal, now integrated into the system. - Tom Tom Live advanced navigation services. - Hi-Matic transmission, enhanced by the new bi-stable position multi-function lever with a power selector for the Power and Eco settings. - Reverse camera with dynamic guiding lines, available as an option for cab and van - Standard parking sensors - Also available is the new 7-inch touchscreen radio, which includes controls on the steering wheel, mobile mirroring and IVECO Driver Pal.

What Digital Features Are Offered In The New IVECO Daily?

There are a raft of new digital and connectivity features in the new IVECO Daily. For example, drivers and fleet managers can now remotely control the vehicle’s settings through the Easy Daily App or through the IVECO ON portal, allowing for fuel efficiency control, locked setting and profile settings for drivers who share vans.
Of note is the Keyless Entry & Go function is also a major plus, with IVECO stating that the new Daily is the only light commercial vehicle on the market with the fully hands-free door locking and unlocking feature. Over-the-Air updates also eliminate the need to visit the dealer’s workshop for software updates, and proactive fault management based on Daily state-of-health data enables the customer to schedule workshop visits.
