Scania solves the ultimate riddle: how to get from London to Hull in an electric truck
Scania headed to the IAA Transportation Show in Hanover to reveal its long-haul electric truck that can drive up to 447 miles on a single charge

How did Scania answer the ultimate question of how to get from London to Hull in an electric truck? Simple. They took two massive MP20 battery packs and bolted them directly behind the cab as additional power supply alongside the vehicle’s existing battery packs.
The battery-behind-the-cab layout is built on the exact same base chassis used for Scania’s CNG tractor.
London to Hull and back again
Scania proudly revealed that 447 miles (720 km) is enough range to drive from London to Hull and back without stopping to charge once. We’re told that the battery-backpack-wearing 6x2*4 tractor maintains a tight turning circle to remain compatible with standard European trailers.
The tractor also supports Megawatt Charging (MCS), meaning drivers can pump huge amounts of power into it while the driver tucks into a truck-stop sandwich. Pair the rage-extender setup with Scania’s Dynamic exterior aero package, and Scania claims operators will consume up to three per cent less energy.
