To make sure your advert stands out from the crowd, you will need to provide potential buyers with a selection of well-shot and clear images that represent the true condition of your motorhome.
Before you get started
Think about the order in which you are going to take your pictures in before you start. Pick the most logical shooting sequence for the space you have to work in and stick to this.
Consider a suitable camera height and keep it consistent throughout all your images Crop into the image so there is not too much empty space around the vehicle Take all your images in landscape format, the images of the vehicle will be more consistent and easier to scroll through. To make sure you pick the right location to take your images, consider the following:
  • Photograph your motorhome in an area that has a neutral background free of anything that will distract from it
  • Try and find an area which is evenly lit – avoid a mix of bright sunlight and heavily shadowed areas
  • Avoid anything which will cast reflections on the vehicle
Exterior checks to make
  • Is your motorhome clean?
  • Check wheel arches for mud splashes when taking the alloy wheel images
  • Consider the time of year where possible (leaves on the ground etc)
  • Does the motorhome stand out? Make sure there are no surrounding distractions
  • Are you far enough back from the motorhome?
  • Is the camera at the correct height?
Exterior shots to get
  • Three quarters view
  • Front on view
  • Any details or faults should be pictured such as Make and model badges
Interior checks to make

  • Is your motorhome clean and tidy inside?
  • Is the steering wheel straight and the front seats aligned?
  • Are the living areas tidy?
  • Are screens, windows and surfaces clean and free from fingerprints?
  • Are there personal items visible?
  • Make sure there are no warning symbols displayed (tyre pressure warning etc)
Interior shots to get
  • Living areas (Distance and detail shots)
  • Bedroom or sleeping area
  • Kitchen and bathroom areas
Additional detail photographs:
Consider what a buyer would look at if they were viewing the vehicle face to face
  • Take pictures inside draws & cupboards (storage space is important to buyers)
  • Cover all aspects of the kitchen including the sink, outside & inside the oven, hobs, microwave, all the work surfaces etc
  • Photograph any gadgets, screens and vents
  • Take multiple photographs of the bathroom area including the shower, sink etc
  • Storage space - demonstrate functional elements
  • Inside the driver’s cabin including controls, the dashboard, multimedia screens and odometer.
  • Make sure to capture any stains, marks or scratches - be transparent with the buyer
We hope you found this useful, good luck with taking your pictures and listing your advert on Auto Trader.
