New vans for 2018

A whole range of new vans have been confirmed for the next few years, with a number of key models coming to the end of their life cycle. Among them are a number of big players, including the second-generation Citroen Berlingo and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which are both expected to be replaced next year.
Other models, such as the Ford Transit Custom, will receive a moderate mid-life facelift, and LDV will be launching a medium panel van for the first time in more than ten years: the G10. As ever, details will remain sketchy until nearer the launches, but here’s everything we know so far.

Citroen Berlingo 2018

The Citroen Berlingo is a popular sight on the UK’s roads, and sales increased to almost 15,000 units in 2016. Citroen has announced it will be replacing the current-generation, launched in 2008, with an all-new model for 2018, and that it will also be badged as a Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo.

Ford Transit Custom 2018

Another common sight on the UK’s road is the Ford Transit Custom, which has been the best-selling vehicle since its launch in 2012. Next year marks the Custom’s sixth year on sale, and Ford will be refreshing its mid-size van with a redesigned front end and a specification upgrade.

LDV G10 2018

Last year witnessed the return of LDV to the UK after a seven year absence. Today’s LDVs are built in China and imported to the UK. The sole vehicle in the line-up – the V80 large panel van – will be joined by the medium-sized G10 next year.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2018

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the most respected large panel van, with a proven track record in reliability and the highest residual values in its class. Until 2016, the Sprinter shared its chassis and production line with the VW Crafter, but Volkswagen has built its own Crafter factory in Poland, freeing up production at the Sprinter’s Dusseldorf plant in time for the 2018 model.

Peugeot Partner 2018

Like its Citroen and Vauxhall badge siblings, there will be an all-new Peugeot Partner for 2018. The Peugeot will share the same chassis, gearboxes and engines, although the Peugeot design team will develop a bumper and grille unique to the Partner.

Renault Kangoo 2020

Renault is the leading van manufacturer in Europe, and the Kangoo is one of its best-selling models. The small van from Renault is built at the company’s Maubeuge plant in northern France, alongside the Mercedes-Benz Citan, but the current-generation is almost ten years old and is looking a little long in the tooth. Time for a refresh in 2020.

Vauxhall Combo 2018

The Vauxhall Combo has been built by Turkish company Tofas since 2012, and is based on the Fiat Doblo, but closer ties with PSA has meant the French manufacturer will be handed production from 2018. The 2018 Combo will be produced at PSA’s Vigo plant in Spain, but Vauxhall has stated the new vehicle will feature distinctive brand styling.
