It’s fair to say that pick-up trucks grew out of their role as solely light commercial vehicles decades ago, but more recently that was confirmed by the UK Government reclassifying them as cars for tax purposes. Electrification of pick-up trucks is also lagging behind that of vans (by some margin), but there are some available. So, let’s take a look at the best out there right now.
Disclaimer: there are only a few electric pick-ups available (or coming to market), so this list will develop as more electric pick-up trucks hit UK shores.

Maxus T90EV

It’s not the best, but it might work for some people; this is how the marketplace has reacted to the T90EV. It offers 205 miles of range (claimed, 140-160 realistically), can carry 1000kg payloads, no four-wheel-drive capabilities, and its interior is fine. It’s a workhorse from the outside to its core, with little else to say about it other than you’re very likely to find good prices on our own marketplace.
In summary, it was the UK’s first electric pick-up truck, and it’s good that it won’t be the last because it laid the groundwork for the Maxus eTerron 9 (covered later in this article). If any of this sets your mind racing, take a look at the Maxus T90EV on the Auto Trader marketplace here, you’re sure to find a deal.

Isuzu D-Max EV

Although it’s only just launched at time of writing (with deliveries due to start in 2026), the Isuzu D-Max EV feels like it could be an evolutionary progression of the D-Max we all know and love. We covered the global launch of the vehicle at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show highlights where we discussed it and the other electric commercial vehicles powering the future.
As a package, the vehicle will offer a one-tonne payload, 3500kg towing capability, 160 miles of range, and four-wheel drive. We await more concrete details on specifications and trim, but can confirm two trim levels, 11kW charging, and the inclusion of the new infotainment and Rough Terrain systems. Shame about the range, but it would be surprising if a larger battery version wasn’t available pretty quickly after launch.

Maxus eTerron 9

Yeah, so Maxus has already superseded the T90EV with the eTerron 9, a far more state-of-the-art electric pick-up truck and probably the most striking on this list. So, learning some lessons for the T90EV, the eTerron 9 offers 260 miles of range, four-wheel-drive capability, a 620kg payload (very similar to the Ford Ranger Raptor), and a vastly improved interior look and feel.
It performs better, makes use of two electric drive motors, features excellent air suspension, and you can even lower the front seats almost completely flat for sleeping on… no, I’m not kidding. It also appears in plenty of listings on the Auto Trader marketplace, which means you can snap one up right now if any of the information above gave you pause for thought.
