You don’t need a fancy camera, any modern phone camera will do. How you photograph it matters, it’s all about the details. Here are our top tips:
- 1. Prepare your truck as thoroughly as possible. That means cleaning it and making sure everything works properly. We have more detail on this here.
- 2. Photo location is important. Remember that the first photo any potential buyer sees is likely to be a small thumbnail, so you need as clear an image as possible. We know this is hard but a plain and uncluttered background is best, so the truck stands out and the viewer is not distracted by the location.
- 3. Good, natural light is important, if you can find a dry, sunny day in the UK, that’s the perfect setting for your photographs.
- 4. Remember to show the whole truck off - you can upload 20 pictures on Auto Trader Trucks so use this to your advantage. Take your time and shoot lots of different photos e.g front, sides, back, cab, interiors etc and close ups where necessary. Ensure you photograph faults or damage too, as potential buyers will only be annoyed or disappointed if they view your truck and they find damage they were unaware of.
- 5. Don’t be tempted to be arty. People are interested in the truck, not your photographic style.
Professional photographers spend hours taking their photos, and your advertisement will certainly benefit from you spending some time to get yours the best you can. That way you can show your truck in its best light.
