MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd have won a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) which will help modernise the British Military’s logistic vehicles.
The project aims to deliver the British Military a new pallet and container loading system. MAN will supply 382 retrofit kits for the Enhanced Pallet Loading System (or EPLS) which will be integrated into HX trucks, belonging to Her Majesty’s Armed Forces which the manufacturer provided under a separate contract which started back in 2005. From 2005-2013, the British Army bought over 7,500 HX logistics vehicles from MAN. As the backbone of the Royal Logistics Corps, these “military off the shelf” vehicles have proven highly efficient. This project has come about due to growing demand for transport solutions which allow the MoD to move containers. MAN will work with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Austria (RMMV Ö) to deliver this key strategic project which is worth worth over €43 million to RMMV Ö, who will provide the technical / system elements which will be installed on the vehicles. Several partners will work together as a team to deliver this project including;
  • MAN who are responsible for managing the project and converting the vehicles
  • RMMV Ö who will supply the conversion kit, produced in Vienna at the company’s plant
  • Finally, HIAB who will produce the hook loading system is made by HIAB
We look forward to seeing the updated MoD vehicles, once the project has been completed.
