Even if you have an amazing machine which is priced well, if your pictures don’t stand out, unfortunately it won’t get noticed.
When you are taking your photographs, you won’t need a fancy camera, any decent phone will suffice. Here are our top tips on how to get the best pictures, to help you sell your machine faster:

- 1. Prepare the machinery for your photos by cleaning it and making sure everything works properly. We have more detail on this here.
- 2. Remember that the first photo any potential buyer sees is likely to be a small thumbnail, so make it as clear an image as possible. Photo location is very important! We know this is hard (particularly when your machine is large) but a plain and uncluttered background is best, as the viewer won’t be distracted by the background.
- 3. It is important you try and catch a dry, sunny day, so you can get as much natural light as possible.
- 4. You can upload 20 pictures on Auto Trader Plant so make sure you use this to show all of your machine off. Take your time, shoot lots of different photos including front, back, sides and close ups. You should photograph faults or damage too, potential buyers will be annoyed if they come to see your machinery and they find damage they didn’t know about.
- 5. Don’t go all arty with your pictures. People are interested in the machinery, not your photographic style.
Your advert will benefit from spending some time to get your pictures right - this is your opportunity to show your machine in its best light, so don’t waste it.
