Beware of scammers
When you greet the buyer, ask for their contact details including their telephone number or full home address, proof of identity (passport or driving licence). A legitimate buyer will be fine with this if you have mentioned it beforehand.

Payment
Only agree a price you are happy with as once a deal is done, it is often too late to get extra money.
Never give the machinery to its new owner until you have confirmation from your bank that the payment has cleared in your account. If you are thinking about accepting a cheque or bankers draft, this will take a few days for these funds to clear.
