International travel plans seem to be more up in the air than international travellers at this point. As such, more Brits have said they’re considering UK-based ‘staycation’ holidays later this year — should lockdown permit.
We recently surveyed 2,000 UK adults about their travel plans and found that, if Government guidelines allow them to holiday at home, 40% of those asked said they’d take a 2020 staycation. Perhaps looking to make the most of their time outdoors, caravan holidays came a close second to hotel stays as the preferred accommodation (with 33% mooting a caravan and 40% looking at a hotel). A further 18% were also considering a motorhome or camper van for this year’s home-grown adventures. Related: UK holidays could return by July.

Social-distancing on staycation
Understandably, staying safe was a key factor driving many responses. 37% of those asked said they liked the idea of staying in a caravan because they could sanitise the environment properly themselves.
Additionally, 34% said a caravan appealed because they’d be better able to manage social distancing, given that they’d be the only people staying in it. The idea of holidaying in a space that you yourself own, which you can clean yourself and which won’t have been used by others recently, is definitely reassuring.
