Siblings under the skin, it’s no secret the Audi E-Tron GT shares a lot with the Porsche Taycan in terms of its battery, motors and, indeed, overall proportions. So, has Audi done enough to put its own flavour on the same ingredients? Rory’s been living with the top of the range RS version in an attempt to find out.
It’s certainly had a busy life already, competing in a drag race with a more traditional RS Audi in the shape of the RS6 Performance for a fascinating comparison between peak petrol-fuelled indulgence and the new era of electric power. Assuming going flat chat along runways isn’t part of your daily commute in this video Rory takes a reality check to explain more about what the RS E-Tron GT is like to live with day-to-day. The comparisons with the Porsche are inevitable, but on the face of it the Audi is a fraction cheaper than the equivalent Taycan Turbo and – tactfully – very slightly less powerful. Though whether you’ll really notice the fact its 0-62mph time of 3.3 seconds is a tenth slower than the Porsche is another matter. Both cars are, it goes without saying, fast enough to make even someone like Rory feel a little queasy. If you are weighing up the two it’s also worth noting that things Porsche makes you pay extra for like rear-wheel steering and ‘sport sound’ are included as standard on the Audi. Let’s face it, though, in reality most people are more interested in range, how quickly you can charge and other more practical tests like … can you fit a McDonald’s cheeseburger in the cupholder? All this and more will be revealed! Hopefully vital consumer testing like this is something that floats your boat and if you have any comments, questions or similar chuck them into the YouTube comments thread below the video. And while you’re there if you enjoyed the video let Rory know by hitting like, and if you haven’t already make sure you subscribe for more great videos on our channel!
