Britain has always been a nation of dog-lovers, and for the high percentage of the population that have procured themselves a pooch, it turns out the Mazda CX-5 is the car of choice. That’s why it’s been named as the 2019 winner of our Best Car for Dog Owners award.
Like all our awards, this category was decided by feedback collated from a survey of more than 60,000 car owners, all of whom rated their car in 16 key areas. That means an Auto Trader New Car Award is a real stamp of approval from people that live with the car day-in, day-out, and it makes each winner a true consumer champion. Determined by the responses to our survey from people who said they owned a dog and used their car to transport it, the CX-5 was rated top for safety, comfort, space and how easy it is to use that space, all important factors for dog-owners. - “I like the flexibility: there’s space for four or five passengers, or a large area for our dog.”
- “I really like the way the car drives. For quite a large car it handles very well. It’s very easy to place on the road, and it’s also fairly quiet and comfortable. I really enjoy driving the car.”
- “Excellent build quality and refinement of the cabin. Mazda has done a fantastic job with the interior; it’s a lovely environment to be in for long periods of time and it has a huge amount of kit.”
