Mercedes’ flagship roadster sticks to a formula of subtle sophistication and effortless year-round usability. With a feel-good factor that few cars can compete with, the SL500 has plenty of ownership appeal, though it’s too mute in its feedback to appeal to keen drivers.

Mercedes SL65 AMG announced
Details of the forthcoming Mercedes SL65 AMG have been announced, hot on the heels of the unveiling of AMG’s other brand new Roadster, the SL63, at the Geneva motor show. Fitted with a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, the SL65 will sit at the very top of the SL model range.

New Mercedes SL: lighter, safer, faster
The first official pictures of the Mercedes SL have been released, ahead of its launch in July 2012. Mercedes says the completely-redeveloped SL is 140kgs lighter than the current model, which will help it to offer agile, sporty handling with exemplary ride comfort.
