The pictures show a subtle evolution of the A3 model, with revisions to the grille and front and rear light clusters bringing it in line with the current Audi ‘face’, as seen on the company’s other models. The bodywork is also more heavily creased, lending the A3 a leaner, tauter appearance.

The interior borrows styling elements from the Audi A1 city car, and is more elegant and less cluttered than the current model. A new multimedia screen, which pops out the top of the dashboard displays the user interface for a revised version of Audi’s multimedia interface system.

The A3 will be made available with a head-up display, which shows important information as if it were floating in front of the windscreen. The manual handbrake of the outgoing model has also been replaced with an electrical item.

Pricing, specification and availability details have yet to be confirmed. Indeed, Audi is yet to confirm the legitimacy of these leaked images. However,  alongside the usual three and five-door Sportback body styles there is likely to be a coupe version, in the style of a compact Audi A5.

The new Audi A3 makes its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6.
