Jeep is synonymous with rugged 4x4s and an outdoorsy image. You could be forgiven for struggling to imagine how this spirit could be packaged into an all-electric urban SUV, yet that is the exact goal of the Avenger.
One of a family of electric crossovers including the Peugeot e-2008, the Fiat 600e and the Vauxhall Mokka-e, the Avenger offers some unmistakably Jeep personality for those who live in suburbia but are wild at heart. In this video Rory takes the Avenger for a drive to discover if Jeep has managed to hit the mark. Rory begins by exploring the styling. From the iconic Jeep seven-slot grille to playful ‘Easter egg’ design touches hidden all over the car, it’s clear Jeep drew inspiration from its heritage with the look and feel of the Avenger. All good so far then. As the first electric car from Jeep, out on the road the Avenger is much more refined and suitable for city streets than its predecessors, too. It may not have the performance of hotter electric models like the MG4 XPower, but the Avenger has adequate power for day-to-day driving around town. Rory also tries out the different driving modes and sees how popping the car into Eco can help you squeeze the most range possible from the battery. As Rory comes to the end of his test drive the big question remains. Namely, for all its mod cons and electric power, does the Avenger still feel like a real Jeep? To find out you’ll have to watch the video for Rory’s final verdict. How do you feel about the first electric Jeep?
