Is the Bentley Bentayga the ultimate family car? Rory Reid seeks to find out by taking it on the ultimate road trip with a 1,000-mile in America.
The initial verdict, based on the size of the boot and sheer amount of luggage, suggests doubts ahead on that one. But in a testament to teamwork, Tetris, and a touch of brute force, the Reids make it work and are off from Los Angeles. We’re lucky enough to get two reviews of the Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase, so click play to see what Mr and Mrs Reid have to say about the car. First impressions of the car highlight the plush “armchair” seats and massage function. They also praise the smoothness of the air suspension and the power of the engine.

Get to know the Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase

With an elegant design and eye-catching colour scheme, the Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase was built around the twins pillars of luxury and exclusivity.
There are over 24 billion trim combinations available, including new wood and metal trim, with leather upholstery and quilting throughout. There’s every possibility that your Bentayga’s interior could be totally unique to the world. The four-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivers over 540 horsepower and 700-plus Newton metres of torque. It’s impressive power but, by all accounts, easy to command into a smooth ride. Inside, the car offers various seating configurations, including the standard four-plus-one arrangement (full five- or four-seat versions are also available), and five massage programs for the seats. There are also lavish features like rear seat entertainment systems and a pop-out display for controlling the infotainment system, volume, climate control, and blinds. As the rear doors to the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase are larger, heavier and electronically powered, access is that much easier. Alongside the doors, there’s also a new roof, floor and side panels. There’s no confirmed price yet, but apparently you’ll be able to spend over £300,000 on a Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase. A lot, yes, but can you really put a price on the joy of exploration?
