Volkswagen Caddy Maxi car review
The Volkswagen Caddy Maxi is an up-market, van-based people carrier which first appeared in Britain during 2008. It slots between Volkswagen's Touran and Sharan people carriers, and has few direct rivals, although Fiat's now rather good Doblo is one less expensive alternative, as is Peugeot's even bigger Expert Teepee.

Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life MPV (2008 – ) first UK drive
There are plenty of van-based people carriers on the market, but scratch away the veneer of a dedicated MPV and you'll quickly reveal its humble commercial vehicle underpinnings. You'll find hard plastic screwed to bare painted metal and a level of ride and handling which falls short of other MPVs built to carry lots of people in comfort. But in their favour, they are supremely practical due to their unashamedly boxy shape and exceptionally robust.
