Toyota Avensis 2.2D-4D T180 car review

The trouble with the Toyota Avensis is there's very little that stands out. The ride is solid, it's well styled, the mileage is respectable, but there's just no... X factor. But maybe that's the appeal.

No hybrid for Toyota Avensis
Toyota has ruled out a hybrid version of its Avensis, quashing rumours the company will offer a hybrid version of all its models. A Toyota insider said there would not be an Avensis HSD model as the large family saloon and estate sits too near the hybrid-only Prius hatchback.

Cleaner Toyota Avensis on sale now
The 2012 Toyota Avensis is now on sale, with lower running costs thanks to improved economy and lower emissions. Pick of the line-up is the 2-litre D-4D model, managing 61.4mpg – a 15 per cent improvement on the pre-facelift car.

Toyota to recall 1.7m cars globally
Toyota has issued a safety recall for 1.7 million cars worldwide, due to a possible fuel leak problem. The recall includes 15,500 Avensis and 3,100 Lexus IS models in the UK, and is caused by two separate issues. There have been no reports of accidents in the UK, and no complaints relating to the Avensis, however there has been one complaint relating to the IS.
