Sad to see it go - a fantastic, nippy car that looks good
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 2.0 GT TDI PD 5dr DSG (Review date: 26th August '12)
I have had his car from day one and it still gives me as much pleasure to drive it today as it did when I bought it. Its reliable, fast, and comfortable.
With a busy lifestyle, I have enjoyed particularly the features that make it a pleasure to be in - rear parking sensors, 5 CD multichanger, air con, hands free phone set up, and most of all its really nippy when you want to zoom off at the traffic lights or overtaking on the motorway.
There is plenty of legroom in the back with those fold down tables, and pockets, plus loads of boot space. And if you have a dog, there's lots of space for it in the large boot.
With a focus on economy, I got around 45 to 50 mpg on the motorway and 40 mpg in the city.
I am now going to buy another new car which means saying a reluctant goodbye to this one. Whoever is the purchaser - I am sure you will enjoy driving it!
The best golf derivative for power and economy ratio
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 1.4 Luna TSI 5dr 122 (Review date: 12th June '12)
We have loved this car. It is an absolute joy to drive. It has a nice ride height and more headroom than the standard golf, making it easier to get in and out of. Fantastic mix of power and economy. We average 43 mpg and have had over 50 mpg on a run. It is very responsive with the 122 PS turbo charged engine (0-62mph in 10.2 seconds and 122mph top speed). More than enough power for any situation. Usual VW solid build and still drives like new after 33000 miles. Very reasonable servicing costs. I heartily recommend this car to anyone wanting a reliable, family friendly, sporty hatchback.
Golf Plus review
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 1.9 SE TDI PD 5dr (Review date: 12th February '12)
Purchased in 2008, over 60k on the clock and nothing has gone wrong with the car. 60+ MPG on the motorway with a family of 4 and luggage. Paintwork & interior still looking better than newer cars of less quality than a VW. You pay for what you get and can't go wrong with a VW. Will be running this for as long as it goes which I pressume will be another 10+ years!
Super Golf Plus
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 1.9 SE TDI PD 5dr (Review date: 22nd January '12)
Suits my current situation very well, searched for long time to find a Golf Plus as thought it would be very useful with elderly parents and flexibility with rear seats enabled transfers with wheelchair. Also easy to fit child seats in for the grandchildren. Very easy car to drive and economical. The only extra thing I would have liked is leather seats rather than cloth.
Versatile workhorse with bags of space.
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 1.9 SE TDI PD 5dr (Review date: 19th January '12)
Had the car for 5 years and has never let me down. It had a gear box problem but was within the 3 year warantee and therefore fixed with no cost. I get over 50 to the gallon (diesel) and I love the versatility of the vehicle. Carries 5 of us with ease but on the other hand can put rear seats down and you have huge area for carrying bulky items. Has extra space in the well of the boot area too. Also lots of little storage boxes around the vehicle, eg in roof and under seats. 2 cigar points so can plug in your SatNav and charge phone at the same time. Easy to drive as the car is slightly higher than normal Golf giving good all round visibility. Also wide opening doors are easier for elderly to get in and out. I have towed my boat through France and all over UK with no trouble. Responsive and lively engine.

VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 1.9 SE TDI PD DPF 5dr (Review date: 28th March '11)
I love this cars size, it is great for the kids, rear tables are fab and the rear seats which move forward and backwards to increase boot size or legroom is also a great idea. It does a good job towing a caravan. However you are always a little less confident with the engine!
MPG are great on a run about 55mpg, put just running around town you get about 30mpg.
Practical, solid but waay too heavy for the power available.
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 1.9 S TDI PD 90 5dr (Review date: 22nd March '11)
Practicality - Superb. Solid, childproof interior, sliding seats in the back and huge doors all round for easy access.
Reliabilty - 40,000 miles, 5 years of ownership and, so far, flawless apart from very minor electrical issues. 1 speaker works intermittantly, and the heater fan stopped working for about 200 miles, then started again...
Running Costs - Ok. Gets 45 - 50 mpg in mixed town / A road driving. Insurance seems expensive.
How It Drives - Smooth, controlled and comfortable. Superb gearbox but waay too heavy for the power available. In town its too slow off the mark, and on the motorway there's not enough in reserve. Noisy engine. Wind noise, especially ,weirdly enoughf rom the door mirrors for some reason.
On balnce great as a 5 seat family load lugger - if you're not in a hurry.
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF PLUS 1.6 SE FSI 5dr (Review date: 9th March '11)
This car has no drawbacks - a nice high seat which suits anyone with a modicum of back problems. One of the best soundproofed cars I have known. Gear change very smooth - not worth paying an extra £1300 for suto. Nothing very stylish inside and out but that does not matter with everyday running. I am about to trade it in for another of the same.
