Disapointed - unreliable
SUBARU LEGACY 2.0D S 5dr (Review date: 28th June '13)
When Subaru brought out their Boxer Diesel Engine I was delighted. A chance to enjoy a great drive, good mpg in a car that would last forever. Sadly this hasn't been the case. The car is a great drive and I love the fact that I get 45 mpg. Unfortunately this has been the least reliable car I have ever owned. At under 3 years old the turbo went - £2k to replace. 6 months later and the Glow Plugs have failed - £450 to replace. Subaru's response that I have just been unlucky isn't really helping.
Nearly perfect but not quite
SUBARU LEGACY 2.0D SE NavPlus 5dr (Review date: 5th August '12)
Have owned two f these in the last few years and love them to bits. Fantastically practical family car that is still fun to drive when on your own. Responsive diesel with good power band. Corners like it is on rails and back seat passengers are as comfy as those in the front.
If I'm being picky then a car that concentrates so much on safety really should come with a spare wheel not a can of foam and the bluetooth system wont take a phonebook transfer (from my Nokia) but works well anyway. SatNav is good and reacts reasonably quickly if you chose to ignore it at junctions etc.
Rarely get less than 50mpg unless really stuck in traffic and service costs are pretty good apart from the 4 year one which is a biggy.
The aftercare package that provides free repairs to bodywork and alloys for minor damage in the first 3 years sounds good but hoping not to need it.
Overall would highly recommend, the extra safety and grip of the AWD system doesn't impact on running costs too much and I find it hard to fault.
