Great car...except the gearbox
RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 2.0 16V Privilege Monaco 5dr Auto (Review date: 17th December '12)
To start, I must say that when it works, the gearbox is silky smooth and responsive. No squeaks or rattles and all put together very nicely. The only quarrel is that the gearbox jumps into limp mode whenever the car is starting from cold.
Despite this the drive is excellent, engine is lovely and responsive, driving position is much better than the Xsara. Highly practical and lots of storage spaces even where you least expect them to be. Above average sound system with nice controls behind the wheel.
Buy the manual and you'll be well away.

RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 1.6 16V Alize 5dr (Review date: 20th February '12)
1.6L Alise 5dr, pros; good size family car with plenty of room for both driver and passengers. Driving position good, seated slightly higher than your average car.Practical too with a good size boot with rear seats up,when down the rear space is vast.Rear seats can also be taken out. Plenty of under floor cubbyholes to put things in. Running costs fairly average for size of engine/car. Cons; interior of car although practcal is very cheap looking hard plastic. My car has developed a lot of rattles over the years. It also seems to eat brake pads for breakfast with new ones being fitted for every M.O.T which is not good as i do less than 8000 miles a year. Reliability is good I use it every day 6 days a week.

Not a bad car at all
RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 1.6 16V RXE 5dr (Review date: 19th January '12)
Good car and easy to drive. vision is good with very few blind spots. Comfortable seats and lots of space in front and the back. Floor storage in the back and under the front seats is hand for keeping stuff in the car yet out of view. how ever kids tend to treat the floor storage in the back as a bin which issnt good. massive boot and parcel shelf is removable so lots of space and the front folding back seats means even more space when carrying large objects. running costs havent been to bad and I have not, to date finger crossed, spent alot of money keeping it on the road with normal wear and tear. Not to sore on petrol although driving around the town or city in lower gears does use more than the long planned trips. No real problems with this car apart from the normal gripes with high tax band and poor radio when i bought it.
HOW I GREW TO LOVE MY SCENIC
RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 1.9 dCi Sport 5dr (Review date: 19th January '12)
To be honest, when my Renault Laguna joined its predecessors in the great scrapyard, I was scetpical when my local garage suggested I try a Scenic next. At first it seemed a bit slower and more roly poly compared to the lower, sportier Laguna, but once I got used to this, I started to really appreciate its hidden qualities.
It is roomy and adaptable little car, with a stylish interior, superb driving position, slick and accurate steering and fine visibility.
In it's three years with us, it has started first time, and got me to work every morning without a hiccup, sometimes in quite deep snow, and in the freezing December of 2010, with temperatures down to minus 10c. It has also taken us to Scotland on several occasions, and last summer to the Pyrenees and back, coping easily with some rough roads at over 1500m.
Repair bills have been below average, with little other than normal wear and tear items being replaced. Everything still works, and at 145000 miles, show no sign of starting to fail. Road Tax is a bit steep at over £200 pa, but insurance is a bargain. Fuel economy is outstanding - I regularly get 550 miles from a tank, and once, memorably, 640! All in all a great little car - and yes, I will buy another!
RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 1.9 dCi Dynamique + 5dr (Review date: 31st October '11)
It's been a wonderful car, no problems so far.
It averages 47 mpg mixed driving.
Nice around town, great on a long drive.
Parts are a little expensive the pollen filter needed changing at £18 fuel filter at nearly £60.
Loads of space and very versatile seat arrangement when you need to really load up the boot.
I would recommend this car above the Citron and would buy another tomorrow if needed.

Needs contance attention works ok if you keep a eye on it, i do a full service every 10000 miles but change the oil and filter every 3333 miles so the oil gets changed three times every 10000 miles and use a good oil, shell 10/40 had to replace the egr valve lately £240 i thought that was including labour still it is made out of metal instead of plastic! so done away with it and used a blanking plate instead i get a little more bhp and use less fuel other then that good work horse central locking a pain so disconted part of it, had to change the headlights for lhd ones as i live in france the whole of the front of the car had to come off and here in france you have to carry a spare set of bulbs cannot imagine changeing a bulb at the side if the road in the rain must had been disigned by someone who has shares in Renault i think my next one will be a Bradford Jowett.
Would buy another !
RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 1.6 16V Dynamique + 5dr (Review date: 30th October '11)
I purchased this vehicle in Sept 2006, (mileage 32000), and am still driving it most days at the present time, (mileage 78000, Oct 2011). During this time I have had two shock absorbers replaced. Both sheared at the top, reason unknown. Two ignition coils, Discs and pads, front and rear. Had drive belt changed at 35000 miles and had a few tyres. New battery March this year. Still looks good and starts every time. Sailed through the MOT this September with no problems. Good all round family vehicle and in my experience very reliable.
