This car is very reliable, and the the first car i bought and I have had the car for over 3 years and has been running perfectly.
The car has got me back from London to poland on many occasion, with out fail, apart from the hard ride it has been fine.
There has been ththe occasion issue for a car that is 12 years old i.e. Broken fuel funnel , Broken right abs connector /sensor, broken supension arm to list a few:)
To correct the hard ride I changed the tyres from low profile sports to the basic tyre which has made a massive change to the ride of the car over bumps and speed humps.
Running cost are OK condsiering the car is a 2.0.
On motor way runs the car has that extra power when needed and is a pleasure to drive.
The car is for me has it pro's and cons:-
Pro's:-
Fun to drive
Has all the modcons
easy to maintain
power when needed.
Con:-
Fuel compsumtion on small runs
Space i.e. boot space
Not Kid friendly
Cost of spare parts

we first brought a 206 diesel because my wife said it looked nice and would be cool to drive around town in.
not the best tool for making such a choice, but keeps her happy ( it was 8yrs old) (car not wife) BUT WHAT A CHOICE, its very reliable and very nice to drive ,and being diesel, we not as friendly with the local fuel station any more.
a very economical car.
the only down side boot not very big, but then that's a lady's view so prob restrict how much shopping will fit in

What a smashing little hatch!
Little things about the 180 will keep you grinning.
Big grippy sports seats in the front.
A luggage net so bits and bobs aren't floating about in the boot.
The benefit of audio controls on the steering wheel, but because they're tucked behind, you can be all over it in car parks, or on fast B roads without missing a beat (the car or the song!)
Fuel consumption is good too! Over 1200mi (yes, I've kept it running that long!) of varied driving I'm averaging 34.7mpg
Finally, insurance companies don't tend to like 2.0L cars, I am happy to report that in 4yrs of ownership I've not paid any more than £800 :)
Will only trade it in when the magic stork blesses us with kids.......
Gripes? Talk about minor:
The doors are huge, but, that's a direct result of having a two door car and I clip the steering linkage above the clutch at low speed (but I wear a UK13).

The Peugeot 206 2.0 HDI Diesel is a fantastic little car, I was very suprised when I first drove it as just how easy it is to drive and how fast it accelerates. Its great for long journey as the engine is extremely economical. Inside is spacious, Even my friend who is 6" 7 is very comfortable. Decent boot size, Really cant fault it.

Pleasantly styled little runaround that hasn't dated. Enough room for a 6ft-plus driver, as long as back seat passengers are midgets. Goes, handles and stops well and the turbodiesel has indecent amounts of midrange pull. Motorway driving at around 60 returns an astonishing 80mpg though putting your foot down or normal round town running drops this to nearer 45. Boot space is ample, aircon is appreciated and the radio/CD is good.
It's a very pleasant, practical, confortable and driver-friendly car though reliability hasn't been great - clutches every 40,000 miles (suspect oil seal as it seems OK now), front suspension arm bearing wear, and an air leak into the fuel line resulting in failure to start in the morning (fixed with new lines). Apart from that no problems and it happily handled a 20-miles each way commute to work for 4 years as well as family visits to the inlaws in Wales.
Overall, a good little economy car. Would I buy another? Yes.
