Much better than the previous model

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 220 CDI Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 11th September '12)

I really like this car, much better than the C200 Coupe I replaced. The drive is more engaging, the autobox responsive, and it looks stunning in Calcite White with the AMG kit. I opted for the real leather interior rather than the man made standard one I had in the old one, and you can really feel the difference.

The car is covering 35000 miles per year and Im getting an OK 30mpg . It is such a great motorway cruiser - you feel so comfy and safe inside the cabin. The stereo is great, heated seats a godsend in winter although if it snows/freezes you may as well leave it where it is and catch the train.

Good cheap end Merc for ladies.

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 220 CDI Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 22nd January '12)

3.3

The car overall is very reliable and at £22000 is very overpriced for the quality and extras. The engine is powerful and fairly quiet the chassis has a firm ride to it for sports i'm told.

Auto switchable box not much different in manual though.Cabin quite nicely laid out but let down by cheap finishing namely the plastic cover on the seatbelts that keeps on coming off!! Also seems to be cheap steel bodywork , the tailgate leaks water all over the boot when you open it after rain, seems to be a potential rust spot!! Fuel usage reasonable at best 35/40mpg on diesel at best.

Totally unsuitable for passengers , back seats are very cramped and are difficult to get in and out of, the car in general is set very low down and has low profile wheels, they tend to go through tyres quite rapidly though. As usual absolutely useless in any bad conditions (lack of traction) especially ice/frost, will look good on your drive for winter though. All Mercs are rubbish in the winter.

Nice stereo and cd player, bluetooth useful and hands free phone very good, buy a good second hand four door than a new one of these if you have to have a Merc. Definitely a ladies car !!!

Car of my dreams!

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 180K Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 19th January '12)

4.3

I researched this Mercedes CLC for a long time beforehand, including reading the reviews on Autotrader. I test drove a couple and regularly searched the site to check what was available. So when this Jet Blue 180 CLC came up at a reasonable price I knew it was the car for me even before I saw it for real! It's everything I ever wanted and I'll put up with the slightly higher insurance and fuel costs because of that. It more than makes up for that in the assurance and confidence I feel driving it and the admiring looks it gets are just a bonus! It's a smooth car that corners well and is not too large in size or cc's. It suits my lifestyle as a single self-employed person and feels safe and secure to drive. The only thing I don't like is the weak sound system with no ipod connection, but that can be changed. It drives like a dream and I feel a million dollars every time I get behind the wheel!

MERCEDES CLC 220

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 220 CDI Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 14th September '11)

4.8

This car looks and drives great, I had a 54 reg mercedes c200 coupe before the clc 220 and couldnt believe the differnce in the drive and feel of the car, It is so much better.

The speedtronic streering is a massive plus as the c 200 streering was alot heavier, Also the power of the car feels alot quicker and less noisey.

The CD player screen is full colour and has a great display especially for your telephone, you can also make calls from the steering wheel which is so easy.

Overall this is a great car 5/5.

Great drive, comfortable and attractive

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 180K Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 2nd September '11)

4.5

I was looking to buy a second hand coupe and the clc caught my eye - it looks great and of course the merc badge was an attraction. I was torn between buying this or the BMW 1 series coupe but for value for money the clc came out on top. Although the BMW gets by far more mpg you have to pay a hefty price for the optional extras that were important for me (i.e. leather and bluetooth) whereas these were standard in the clc.

Some complaints have been the rear visibility but I haven't found this to be a problem particularly with the parktronic system (which is great). I mainly drive long motorway journeys and get around 41 mpg and 500 miles out the tank which is more than I expected.

Definately more pros than cons:

Pros -

Comfortable

High spec

Smooth to drive

Great handling

Quiet in cabin

Merc badge

Power under the bonnet

Cons -

Low mpg (compared to competitors)

High road tax

Having spent 2 weeks reading these comments I realised that if I believed them all then I would never buy a car. I am so glad I went with my heart and bought this old underpinned, not as good as Bmw / Audi car! It is brilliant in every way, maybe not as fast as the VW Golf GT TDI I replaced it with, but far more aesthetically pleasing and feels far more expensive. My advice, find a car or cars you like, test drive them all and pick the one you like. Simple hey! P.s. This car is great and if it does break down then so may the Golf, Ford, Renault etc your thinking about buying!

Good looking and great to drive

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 200 CDI Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 23rd June '11)

4.5

I traded in my C class c220 cdi for my clc 200 cdi in May 2011. The car immediately grabbed my attention and looks superb in cubanite silver. The steering feels precise and acceleration is pretty good too. The ride is a quite firm compared to the c class but still feels good. The interior is spacious and seats have got to be the comfiest I've ever sat in. Economy is not as good as quoted but 30mpg around town and 46ish on a run isn't that bad either. All in all the car is stylish, comfy and reliable and that'll do for me!

Comfortable coupe with class

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 220 CDI Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 20th May '11)

4.8

So far this car has been really impressive, it's classy inside compared to others we looked at like the BMW 1 and 3 series. Servicing costs are pretty good if you sign up to the 3 year servicing pack which is £26 per month over 3 years which saves around £450 compared to if you pay the standard price. Around town it's achieving 34mpg which is o.k. and this is the only area that really loses out to the BMW's. Build quality is of a high standard and comes with a decent level of kit.

Overall it's practical for a coupe and easy to live with on a daily basis, also the sports seats are the most supportive I've ever sat in. Very enjoyable ownership so far.

Posh looking fun driving

MERCEDES-BENZ CLC CLASS 200 CDI Sport 3dr Auto (Review date: 10th March '11)

3.5

At first you look at Mercedes CLC and you think one of two things, either its a snobs car or its all expensive car. Well the CLC can be a bit of a snlbs car but its by far expensive as you think. Step into a CLC and you will be met by all the mod cons of the 21st century, including bluetooth, all round parking sensors, leather and a stereo system thats tuned to perfrection.

All in all the CLC is a fun and easy car to drive, select the option with the paddle shift gears and you will find yourself moving up and down gears on country roads with ease. The ride itself is very planted and you can feel you have a safe car in your hands, however kick the car into sport mode and the car is begging to go.

Running costs on the CLC are average and you will expect to get 40mpg out of a 200 CDI Sport. Setp up for the 220 CDI Sport and you get 46mpg. Mercedes offers decent service packages and you wont find yourself hit with massive service bills when teh time is due.

Buy yourself a Mercedes CLC and you will find heads turning as you drive up the street. Its a fantastic car to drive with all the technology currently on offer, and you will find the car holds its value very well.

Looks lovely, very spacious and nippy. Only problem is for a new Mercedes the diesel engine sounds a bit like a tractor :(

Apart from that no complaints so far...
