Spacious practical small car

DAIHATSU YRV 1.3 5dr [Premium Pack] (Review date: 28th March '14)

4.8

Plenty of space for both driver and passengers although the steering wheel isn't adjustable the front seat is, with an adjustable rear seat to increase space in the boot which is small but the rear bench easily fold down flat and can be removed, there is only a space saver spare wheel. The engine is the same 1.3 in the Toyota Yaris and is pretty strong and pulls well, the ride is hard and you feel the bumps and it rattles a bit, there isn't a lot of grip if you push it fast through the corners. But as a daily run about which is different from the norm I highly recommend it, it's cheap to run very reliable with loads of space and the premium model comes with lots of extras :)

4.5

Rare and nippy little town car. Ideal for a run about to work and around town. Economy is great, and its 0-60 is surprisingly good at 9.6 secs, quicker than the equivalent Ford Focus 1.6.

Rare small engined turbo Car which is also practical and cheap to run

DAIHATSU YRV 1.3 Turbo 5dr Auto (Review date: 16th April '11)

4.5

I have owned this car for over 3 years and bought it with one owner with 21,000 miles on the clock.

This ticked all the boxes at the time, with being a small, practical car for those A to B journeys, with a bit of fun and also good in stop start traffic (Automatic).

The car when I bought it was a standard affair, and came with the out-of-the factory decals (Turbo 130 down the side), which is for some a marmite thing. But I like my decals.

Only 210 of these cars were imported directly from Japan to the U.K and modified by Daihatsu U.K to sell.

The issuess I had at the time with the car is that the standard sports suspension (Especiallly on the back) was a little pogo like. So since then have modified the car with lowered springs, bigger alloys and tyres etc.. The car now handles and drives like a mini sports car. the best bit being the steershift function which allows you to select the gear manually, but still have the automatic features. Also being japaense and a part of the Toyota family is very reliable. Also this is an ideal car to work on as everything is easy to get at, including changing light bulbs.

I have had 2 Diahatsu YRV 4 Track over the years. They have proved to be very reliable. I have enjoyed driving them. They hold the road well and we have driven in heavy snow and icy conditions. I had used the car for travelling to work in the west country.and visiting my family who live in Scotland I am now retired in Scotland and drive from Scotland to Devon around 3 to 4 times a year in all sort off weather . The seats are comfortable and the heating is good in cold weather . The rear seats fold down if necessary to carry more luggage.

We use it on a daily basis for shopping or for leisure.

Average mileage for petrol is approx 40miles per gallon.

DAIHATSU YRV 1.3 5dr F-Speed (Review date: 13th January '11)

We have owned this car for over 7 years and it never gone wrong. Now done 56,000 miles and only had to change front brakes, 2 batteries (which are rather small) and fitted a stainless steel exhaust. It uses no oil.

Plenty of room - sliding rear seats allow 4 large adults to sit in comfort. The ride is the downside: it bangs and crashes a bit like a van. It rattles like a van too.

All round, more than satisfied.
