AUDI COUPE 2.0E 8V 3dr Auto (Review date: 30th March '13)
audis designers brief was to upgrade quality and build of there cars to a standard as good as mercedes and i believe they did this on this model, underated cars now getting rare especially 20v and S2 versions. if you are looking for your first venture into classic car ownership this is a fine car to start with,
Flexible for long distance or local use
AUDI COUPE 2.6E 3dr Auto (Review date: 22nd July '11)
Used daily I have owned this car for ten years and whether driving long distances or pottering around town I have found it serves me well.
Rear seats up and it comfortably takes my golf bag and cart. With them down two sets fit in easily.
On the supermarket run it takes a full trolley load in the boot.
Going long distance it is an effortless cruiser, even fully loaded.
Around town the V6 is a bit thirsty if I am not delicate with the throttle, but on the motorway I achieve 33 mpg at 70mph.
Plenty of power to spare when rapid acceleration needed with brakes to match for quick stops. I have also found it can go round the corners as if on rails when needed and it is an enjoyable drive around country lanes.
Its not a family car and the back seats are best for occassional short jouney use although anyone under 5'6" has never complained about space or comfort on long trips.
Best car ever built
AUDI COUPE 2dr (Review date: 16th July '11)
I sold this car because I had to. If you now own it I'd like it back please. It was first registered in 1988 and it was nautic blue
This car was the best car I've ever or am likely to own. It was an unsexy 1.8 and it went like a dream.
The rev bands were just perfect and at idle it was almost silent but then would growl mencingly at 3000revs. It's 0-60 was only just under 10 secs but it could do 50-70 in 5th gear practically instantaneously and that is very useful!
Handling was just fantastic - it was just better than anything else we've owned (and that's a few cos I'm quite old and my partner is easily bored). It could easily out perform both our GTi's (mk1 & mk3) a Scirocco GTX a 2.0 Passat 16v and the newer coupe.
The boot is a bit of an odd shape but our daughter was 3 when we got rid of it so it did cope with buggies and suchlike. I quite liked it because things nestled in it safely but it's not a B&Q car.
It was also tremendously economic and never broke down in the 9 years I owned it. It once went from Truro to Fife on a tank of petrol.

well screwed together, 8v 2.0ltr model offers best blend of power/fuel economy . low roofline means taller drivers make contact with roof lining . spare wheel takes up fair chunk of boot area. spares can be sourced cheaply from internet auction site. look out for driver side seat squab worn through on starship mileage vehicles. heavy car for size so tends to eat suspension bushes. dash instruments typical germanic clarity. if you want a classic stylish car that will still look good in ten years time ( galvanised bodywork) go for a unmolested original example
My Audi Coupe Quattro
AUDI COUPE 2.2 Quattro 3dr (Review date: 24th January '11)
AS an owner for over 20 years I have got to know all the pro's and cons of driving my Coupe. As a daily drive it is a very reliable, comfortable and easy car to drive.Good brakes positive steering great gearbox average MPG 25 - 30 and the wonderful sound of that 5 cylinder engine .Insurance is about £170 but as I am of an age that gets me a discount I suppose it's about right. The only gripe I have is regarding spares from Audi are getting hard to get and they are not that helpful in finding parts for the older Audi even though they play on the Quattro image in all the adverts.I use the car every day as my daily transport to work and any errands that I get sent on.Plenty of room for 5 people but getting my parents into the back is no easy task any one with a good degree of flexibility is fine .The boot isn't massive even smaller if you replace the skinny spare for a full size one.Servicing cost are good and very easy to work on as the engine bay has good accessibility .I enjoy driving the car always have that is why I have kept her for so long, don't see many about now but hopefully I can keep her going for a long time yet.
