A WORKHORSE THAT CAN MOVE VERY QUICKLY IF ASKED!
AUDI A4 2.6 SE 5dr Auto (Review date: 24th August '11)
I bought my P reg Audi with 112,000 on the clock - it is now 143,000, and it has behaved flawlesly. My only reasons for marking it less than 5/5 are that at 6'3", I am uncomfortable if I have to move my seat forward. If you have a heavy right foot, you will pay at the pumps, but on a long run, use the cruise control, and I have had over 450m from a tank. Also, with the 2.6 engine, it is quick.
It has been used for everything from a 4 up taxi, to doing tip runs with building rubbish. Never missed a beat. Well done Audi.
Audi A4 Avant 1.8T
AUDI A4 1.8 T Sport 5dr (Review date: 30th April '11)
Our second A4 Avant, the 1.8T is a great blend of performance and economy although you must be wary of the oil pump filter problems that beset the 1.8T VW engine (google it!). Although nearly 10 years old and nearing 100,000 miles the car has been faultless as we add around 25,000 per year, with trips to France and almost daily use. A really solid, high quality 2nd hand purchase. For me a better 2nd hand buy than a BMW (certainly much more robust, comfortable and reliable than my slightly newer 530d Touring).
Just as good today as ever
AUDI A4 1.8 T Sport 5dr (Review date: 8th April '11)
I bought my Audi A4 1.8T Sport Avant second hand only 18 months old. The previous owner had racked up 40k in that time so had taken the hit on the price. 9 years later I'm still hammering the poor thing but it just takes everything in its stride. It's just sailed through yet another MOT with 215k on the clock and drives as well as it did the day I bought it.
Due to the mileage I do (150 miles everyday) I service it twice a year, but bar that I can't believe how cheap it has been to maintain - even being an Audi.
Plus points - pretty much everything - even the paintwork looks good after 10 years. Always starts first time, comfortable, goes like stink when you need it to, never ever grumbles.
Negatives - Nope - can't think of any. It is just one of those cars that works perfectly - even the shape hasn't changed that much over the years, so it doesn't look outdated!
Would I buy another - You bet! The only reason I haven't so far is that I just don't have a reason to part with the one I've got. To be honest I imagine I'll easily break the 300k in this one.
My next car will certainly be an Audi!
All things to all men
AUDI A4 1.8 SE 5dr (Review date: 17th March '11)
I have owned a second hand 2001 Audi Avant 1.8 SE for 6 years, which has been the most trouble-free and pleasurable motoing experience after 4 VW Golfs, 2 BMW 3 series and a Rover 200. It is a great load lugger and a smooth and comfortable long distance cruiser - all in a very stylish body backed by the Audi legendary reliability. On the cons side the running costs are high with the Audi main dealer prices being a real sting in the tail.
My old bus
AUDI A4 1.9 TDi 110 5dr (Review date: 14th March '11)
For a 15 year old car with over 230000k on the clock you just cant beat it. it dose not matter winter or summer starts 1st turn of the key every time. I'm sure this car will out last me it dose not matter what you thow at it it still keeps coming back for more. the only weak point is the front susspension ball joints ware and require changing about every 30 - 40k.
Even with the high milleage 50MPG is no problem (even when the wife drives!)
As long as you keep on top of the maintainance i can see this car lasting at least another 100K. Extreemly good value for money in anybodys book.
So far their is no body rust at all and with a good wash and wax it looks a lot newer than it is.
The ultimate question you ask yourself is would you buy another and if the answer is yes then you have the right car.
