Love at First Sight

ALFA ROMEO MITO 1.4 TB MultiAir 135 Lusso 3dr (Review date: 12th September '12)

4.8

I used to have a Mini Cooper, but so did everyone else. It was fun to drive but noisy and uncomfortable. The Mito is so much better, the ride is more stable and the interior so much more refined. It is spacious for a small car and fairly well equipped. In Dynamic mode it's faster than the Mini and more fun than anything else I've ever driven!

There are a couple of minor niggles, like a lack of storage space and some of the readings and dials could be clearer. However, overall I love this car. It is damn near perfect!

Bargain basement Italian motoring, shows as its god damn awful too

I can't think of one single thing to rave about with the Mito, apart from giving it back to the dealer, now that was the happiest day in my life....

Had this car for a couple of months now and love it..Previous car was a BMW Z4 3.0i great car great performance but very hard ride and unpracticle but the Mito really surprised me with a very spirited engine and for it's size good performance, a really under rated hot hatch.. handling with the Q2 system in dynamic mode is great corners as though on rails.. ride might be a bit on the hard side but the leather seats are really comfortable and compared to the Z4 its much more easy on the bum..Economy currently on 38mpg but concidering the fun element and being an Alfa Romeo more than happy.. Plenty of room for four adults in comfort and a reasonable boot size all adds up to a great little car.. ps. the Etna Black in the sun looks stunning

economical car that is FUN!!

Alfa have a bad reputation in the past, BUT they certainly have overcome this with the mito. To start the colour biancospino white is amazing not pure white so it's not as stark as some, but still looks ultra modern and the styling of the car is different to most small hatchbacks. I often had people stoping to stare a the car when parked and had comments on the car and the colour. The car is styled well inside too, with lots of gadgets, DNA - Dynamic for sports driving which really does go! A- All weather mode for the ice & snow which was invaluable in the winter on rural lanes and N- for normal eco driving. Blue & me phone kit which is 100% safe hands free mobile use when driving, and usb connection for ipod. I have 2 children and found it to be fine for daily use, boot fits enough shopping for family of 4 for 1 week! I had diesel model 1.6 Veloce high spec, tax £95 a year 55MPG and low insurance. Drives great! I never had any faults with the car never went back into alfa which I have had to do with other car manufactures over the years. All round a car I have loved and would own again. Sad to have to see it go.

Magic Mito

ALFA ROMEO MITO 1.4 TB MultiAir 170 Cloverleaf 3dr (Review date: 31st January '12)

Replaces an Abarth 500, not quite as fun as the Abarth but significantly more grown up and comfortable. Have the Sabelt racing seats which are v comfortable but not very adjustable.

Very much dual purpose - in natural mode fine for town and calm driving. In dynamic its a live wire, great fun.

Engine/gearbox is superb, in dynamic mode the throttle response from 1500 rpm is immediate, the multiair engine feels almost diesel like in terms of low down torque, happily pulls from 2000 rpm in 6th gear. The engine note is great.

Fantastic looks in white with a gloss black roof and the new matt black wheels of the latest Quadrifoglio Verde spec.

Interior finish is very good, one sign of cost cutting is the imitation leather for the gear gaiter. Has developed one annoying rattle after 2000 miles. Very solid thud when closing the doors and shut lines and paint finish all high standard.

Average 34.1mpg but that includes some slow commute driving

Overall classy, more exclusive than cars like the Mini, very Italian and Alfa in feel, a joy to own!

Forza Italia

ALFA ROMEO MITO 1.4 16V Sprint 3dr (Review date: 19th January '12)

I bought this little car new last June after trying two of its rivals, the Mini Cooper and the Audi A1. I have been quite pleased with it and it compares well enough with my previous car, BMW 316 ti, 04 registered and owned from new.

The car has covered 3100 miles without needing any atttention. and comes with five years free servicing. It is fvery pretty, inished in Tornado Blue and is a real head-turner. The car was a bit cheaper than the Mini and a lot less than the Audi.

This car is not the quickest in the Mito range but it is adequate with 95ps and is fun to drive. However, if I were choosing again, I would go for the multiair engine. The six forward gears do help in the hilly South Shropshire countryside.

The quoted combined fuel consumption is 47.1 mpg, and that is precisely what I get.

I find the car is very comfortable in front, better than the Mini, and the ride is as good as that in my old BMW. The rear seats accommodate two adult passengers rather than three. Unlike the Mini, this car has a proper boot. It is small but can take luggage for two on a weekend away or easily carry the shopping home from the supermarket.

The finish is average, if a bit plasticky. The rear visibility could be better as the wide rear door pillars are a bit of a nuisance. The wing mirrors fold - what a boon when putting the car away in the garage!

The lttle car is surprisingly well equipped. The stereo is good and Bluetooth, traction control and cruise control are all standard, not to mention Alfa's DNA control.

Overall, this is a very good little car. I can reccommend it to anyone looking for small, economical transport that is just a little different from the run of the mill.

Love at first drive!

When I saw this car released I thought it would be worth a look and I also considered a Honda Jazz, Seat Ibiza, Audi A3. I test drove them all and this was the last I tried, but when I did it was immediately apparent which i was going to have: the Mito just felt so special when I was driving it. The instruments are clear, the controls work well and the DNA adapts the car to your current mood. My previous car had a leather interior and whilst I would have liked one again it was too much for me at the time. Saying that the clocth seats are very comfortable and I think I'd even go so far as to say that I prefer these now. It is mostly used for just me getting to and from work but it's just perfect. The boot is roomy, although you do have to lift things over a high lip, and if you were carrying passengers in the back regularly I think it could get tiresome being only a 3 door. However, I love mine and I would definitely have another.

I love this car to bits!

ALFA ROMEO MITO 1.4 TB 155 Veloce 3dr (Review date: 28th August '11)

100% reliable, bigger in the back than my old Merc and just such a hoot to drive with the dynamic button on! I tried a Mini Cooper S yesterday and was left completely cold and feeling like Noddy with that huge daft speedo to my left. The Alfa is so much more involving, for being just a tiny bit raw.

The only slight disappointments are that it's a tad noisy on the motorway and it only averages about 35 mpg, but then I do have a lot of fun in it ;0)

I have had my car for 3 months now and absolutely love it. It drives like a dream!

It looks amazing, I have it in a cream colour with the TCT gearbox, although I also drive it in automatic mode.
