BMW has revealed its new concept car – the crossover Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo.
The new Concept 5 Series GT opens up a brand new niche for the Munich carmaker in the same way the ground-breaking BMW X6 did on its 2008 debut.
The Beemer Concept is a mix of practicality and grand tourer, with as much rear legroom as the executive BMW 7 Series and up to 1,650 litres of boot space.

The four-seat 5 Series GT features a sloping coupe-like roofline, and BMW claims the headroom is as much as in the BMW X5 SUV.
No word on engines powering the Concept 5, but expect the full range of BMW's award-winning range, including the 300bhp 3-litre twin turbo petrol engine.
The GT gets a high-resolution colour instrument cluster in ‘black panel technology’, displaying the speedo and rev counter, along with navigation and car settings. When in ‘rest mode’, the entire dash forms a “homogeneous black surface”.
BMW reckons “the Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo is the ideal car for long journeys while still offering a magnificent driving experience in everyday traffic on short routes”.
