09 May 2008 German tuner AC Schnitzer has ramped up the BMW 1 Series convertible to produce an eye-watering 360bhp. The baby BMW 1 Series convertible has been given a shot in the arm by legendary German tuners AC Schnitzer as part of a sports package for the new drop-top hatch. This means the AC Schnitzer-modified BMW 135i convertible – which is fitted with the award-winning 306bhp 3-litre twin-turbo engine – develops more power than the previous generation BMW M3 and BMW M3 CSL. The new AC Schnitzer sports pack includes engine upgrades for the diesel powerplants too – the 120d is offered with a power boost from 177bhp to 200bhp. The 204bhp 2-litre twin-turbo 123d – which sprints from 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds while returning 54.3mg on the combined cycle – gets power lifted to a Vauxhall Astra VXR-rivalling 240bhp. To keep the upgraded engines in check, the German tuner is also offering suspension modifications, including standard sports suspension, or fully-adjustable race-spec springs and dampers. And the AC Schnitzer-kitted BMW 1 Series convertible is distinguished from standard models thanks to new front and rear spoilers, sports mirrors and a range of alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19-inch. Schnitzer has decked out the BMW 1 Series with carbon-fibre trim, a sports steering wheel and various other aluminium accessories. View more pictures of the AC Schnitzer BMW 1 Series convertible |
