Rooney v Ronaldo: the cars
28 August 2008 Vijay Pattni plays top trumps with Manchester United stars Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo’s cars. Cristiano Ronaldo Bugatti Veyron
Ronaldo was apparently taken with the Veyron after filming a Nike advert where he raced it – on foot. The Bugatti Veyron is powered by an 8-litre W12 engine producing 1,001bhp, and channels its mighty power through all four wheels. This means the £830,000 Bugatti Veyron can sprint from 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds and hits a 253mph top speed. View more images of the Bugatti Veyron
Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe
The convertible Roller houses a 6.75-litre V12 engine developing 453bhp and will propel Ronaldo from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. And the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is elevated into ultra-exclusivity thanks to its leather interior which uses the hides from 17 bulls. The Bentley Continental GTC is a drop-edition of the Continental GT, and shares its 6-litre W12 engine, which produces 552bhp and 479lb/ft of pulling power. And according to reports, Ronaldo’s new £150,000 “CR7” registration plate will feature on his Bentley Continental GTC.
Porsche Cayenne Turbo
The four-wheel-drive Porsche Cayenne Turbo features a 4.8-litre turbocharged V8 producing 500bhp – as much as a supercar – with a 0-62mph sprint of just 5.1 seconds. Ronaldo’s old Cayenne features a host of body parts from German tuning house Techart, including 22-inch alloys and an aggressive styling kit.
Audi R8
The R8 is Audi’s first proper supercar, and has shot straight to the top of the supercar charts, featuring a 4.2-litre V8 producing 414bhp. But Ronaldo may want to spend his reported £130,000-a-week salary on the stunning new Audi “R16” – a 500bhp race-spec version of the Audi R8 for customer use…

Wayne Rooney Ford SportKa
The SportKa is a spicier version of the Ford Ka, and features a 94bhp 1.6-litre engine with a 0-60mph time of 9.7 seconds. And the SportKa’s top speed? 108mph.
BMW M3
The Cheshire resident’s old M3 was packed with a 3.2-litre straight-six engine producing 343bhp – meaning a 0-62mph in five seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph. And if Rooney liked this, he might be interested in the new BMW M3, which features a 420bhp V8 powerhouse… View more images of the new BMW M3
Aston Martin Vanquish S
Wayne’s fiancée Coleen McLoughlin presented him with a brand new 2006 Aston Martin Vanquish S as a good luck gift before the England international embarked on the 2006 World Cup – but the Vanquish didn’t help much as Rooney was sent off in the quarter finals against Portugal. Rooney’s old Aston Martin Vanquish S was up for sale on Auto Trader earlier this year, complete with his personalised number plate “WAZ8” – after his nickname “Wazza” – thrown in. Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG
As part of Rooney’s two-year deal, he will get to drive his choice of Mercedes-Benz models to and from matches and most of his training sessions. And this includes Rooney’s new customised Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG – a two-door coupe featuring a 6.2-litre V8 engine producing 525bhp and 465lb/ft of pulling power. The £120,000 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.6 seconds and hits a limited top speed of 155mph, which is 44mph slower than his other Mercedes… Wayne Rooney signs for Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM
The CLK DTM is a special edition of the car which features in the German touring car race series, and uses a supercharged 5.4-litre V8 engine producing more than 570bhp. Which means Rooney can accelerate from 0-62mph in under four seconds and hit a top speed of 199mph. View more images of celebrity cars - including Rooney's CLK DTM |
