Cat's entertainment for rocker Pete

For most of us, getting clamped or towed away means forking out to a smug parking attendant.

But for Kate Moss' on/off squeeze, Pete Doherty, it's an excuse to indulge his latest passion - cheap Jaguars.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Babyshambles frontman had his seventh Jag towed away after parking illegally near his East London home.

But instead of paying the fine, he walked into a showroom and returned clutching the keys to a £1,000 grey XJ - his eighth in as many weeks.

To help the troubled rock star, Stuart Milne has scanned autotrader.co.uk to find his next few Jaguars - all for less than a grand apiece.

Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12 HE, 1982, £895

Pete's well-documented troubles mean he attracts a lot of attention from those pesky photographers, so he might want something with a good turn of speed. For just £895, Pete could snap up this 155mph cat - which when it was built was the fastest automatic in the world.

Jaguar XJ6 3.2 S, 1991, £995

He might change his car more often than some people change their socks, but this '91 XJ6 looks like it has plenty of life left in it. With just 75,000 miles under its belt, it's got a full service history and just two previous owners. Lovely.

Jaguar Sovereign 3.2, 1992, £1,000

With a supermodel in the passenger seat, fabric seats just wouldn't do. So should Pete and Kate get back together, she'll love the soft leather seats; which move electrically, of course. And should things start to heat up, the climate control should keep things in check.

JAGUAR XJ6 4.0, 1983, £600

Pete's a very busy man, what with his songwriting and court appearances, so unwinding is probably pretty difficult. So why not take on a soothing restoration project. This classic XJ6 has been standing for five years, but has recently passed its MOT. All that Pete would need is to apply some of his artistic talent to the paintwork.
