Circulation of the print edition of Auto Trader peaked in January 2000 with 368,000 copies sold.

Following a trip to America the previous year, John Madejski brought back the idea of a classified magazine. Thames Valley Trader is launched.

1988 sees all the Trader titles re-branded as Auto Mart & Trader and later the Mart is dropped and all titles become Auto Trader.

The years up to 1995 see the launch of Auto Trader titles to cover all regions of the UK and with the launch of Auto Trader Ireland, covering all regions of Ireland.

Auto Trader launches the 'World Of Cars Made Easy' campaign and a new look magazine to support the campaign.

The last ever issue is published in June, consumer shift to online has resulted in the decline of the magazine readership to 27,000 copies in March 2013.

Auto Trader online is now the number one digital marketplace in the UK for buying and selling new and used vehicles.
