When was the last time you saw a Maybach? So rare you may never have spotted one glide by on its air suspension, the brand has always represented the ultimate transport for those with a luxurious lifestyle. A theme reinvented for the electric age with this ultra-exclusive new model based on the Mercedes EQS SUV.
The history of Maybach as a brand goes back to the early 20th century. Initially a rival to Mercedes, Maybach set the standard for high class automobiles and was, arguably, the German answer to Rolls-Royce. Under Mercedes ownership Maybach eventually re-emerged at the turn of the millennium with two saloon models that pushed the boundaries of luxury, and cost. However, it wasn’t plain sailing, and the Maybach brand was briefly retired before its revival in 2014 as a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz.
Today Maybach is building on this long tradition of taking Mercedes models and upping the opulence factor. Based on the SUV version of the EQS, this is Maybach’s first purely battery powered model and represents the pinnacle of this new family of electric Mercedes. As sumptuous as ever, it proudly wears both the three-pointed star of the Mercedes and the Maybach logo.
In this video Alexandra Legouix takes you on a tour of the Maybach EQS SUV to explore the unique features distinguishing it from its Mercedes cousin. The all-new grille and bumper details are just the start of the exclusive touches, too. As you step into the world of the mega rich, the interior s a blend of wood, ambient lighting and screens that has to be seen to be appreciated and Alexandra makes the most of the relaxing environment.
