Hardcore petrolheads may be sceptical about an electrified Lamborghini, wondering whether it can still be a true supercar. Lamborghini has, of course, already given it a go in its own style with the electrically boosted Sián. And in more recent times its rivals have thrown down the gauntlet with increasing levels of hybridisation, giving us the McLaren Artura and the Ferrari 296 GTB . Ever competitive, Lamborghini has now responded with its next generation of plug-in supercar. Enter the mind-blowingly powerful Revuelto...
As Rory discovers, the Revuelto comes with the exhaust note of dreams and iconic scissor doors, so in some senses it is very much a true Lamborghini. In fact, it’s the fastest production Lamborghini yet! The Revuelto combines a 6.5-litre V12 with three electric motors for over 1,000 horsepower. Numbers we’ve almost got used to in the electric age thanks to cars like the Tesla Model S Plaid but still out of the ordinary for a car with an internal combustion engine at its heart. Rory explains how all this works, where all that power comes from and what happens when you go round a corner. Although the concept of having a Lamborghini you can plug-in might take some getting used to, its likely to be a welcome addition to live with. The six-mile pure electric range will allow you to be much more discreet in residential streets, so you won’t need to disturb your neighbours every time you go out or get home late. However, when it comes to Lamborghini, the experience has never been entirely about the engineering. Looks are just as much part of the package. Rory does a walk around of the Revuelto highlighting the key features both inside and out and the smile on his face says it all! As Rory finishes his final lap with the Revuelto it’s time for that all important final judgement. Does the future look bright for Lamborghini with its new era of hybrid super sports cars? You’ll need to watch the video to find out, and if you enjoyed it make sure you hit like, subscribe for more like it and let Rory know what you think of hybrid supercars in the YouTube comments.
