DS announces new ‘Performance Line’ trim across its full range

New trim sits between Elegance and Prestige, with an emphasis on styling, and gives buyers a car that looks like the Performance models, but with a wider range of engines.

DS has announced a new trim level across its range, called Performance Line. These versions will provide a sportier look and feel than DS’ regular models.
The new trim follows the DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio Performance models, which were launched at the start of 2016, highlighting the cars’ sporty credentials under a new sub-brand. 'Performance Line' trim – available on the DS 3 (hatchback and cabriolet), DS 4, and DS 5 – is intended to give customers the styling of Performance, but with greater engine choice. The trim will be available with almost the full range of existing petrol and diesel engines in each of the three ranges. Performance Line will sit between the Elegance and Prestige trims in the new DS 3 and DS 4 range, with an emphasis on styling. In every range, Performance Line is available in two-tone black combined with a range of colours. There are seven colours to choose between for the DS 3, six for the DS 4, and five for the DS 5. The new alloy wheels – ranging in size from 17 to 19 inches – are finished in gloss black, with the DS logo against a red background. The door mirrors, rear spoiler and the bonnet are finished in red, white and gold, and the front doors are home to new ‘DS Performance Line’ badging. The front grille is lit by signature lights, and the DS 4 and DS 5 Performance Line come with a combination of LED and Xenon headlamps which, according to the company, produce a beam that reduces eye strain and uses less energy.

For the interior, DS has added new upholstery in grained leather, and the front seats are embroidered with ‘DS Performance Line’ emblems. The interior overstitching – which, in the DS 3 and DS 5, extends to the door panels, gearbox, steering wheel and dashboard cap – is also colour-coded.
Across the range, grained or Nappa leather is available, and some of the higher-end models are fitted with metal cabin details and door sills. The latest DS technology is included, such as a 7.0-inch touch-screen, sat-nav, MirrorScreen (which allows access to a number of apps on a connected smartphone through the touch-screen) and DS Connected services through the Connect Box. These include car tracking (for the police and the car's owner) and the ability to contact breakdown or emergency services automatically. The new Performance Line trim is available to order from this week. While prices are not confirmed, they are expected to start at £17,900 for the DS 3, £21,600 for the DS 4, and £30,000 for the DS 5.
