The countdown to Christmas is on and finding the perfect gift can be a tricky business. With a seemingly endless list of presents to source, not forgetting the dreaded work Secret Santa, variety is the spice of life. Here’s our list of gift suggestions for the car lovers in your life.

Novelty slippers

Who wouldn’t want car shaped slippers? Especially when the slippers in question are shaped like the original Mazda MX-5. They only come in one size, which we can confirm does not fit all, but they will keep feet up to about size 9 toasty warm. Alternatively, Autoplush offers a cuddly toy version of the MX-5 and other iconic vehicles. Some have more of a resemblance to the real thing than others mind, but we particularly like the take on the Renault Twingo.

LEGO

LEGO is for life, not just for Christmas, and indeed not just for children. Its large range of models aimed at adults includes a selection of vehicles to transport car-loving enthusiasts back to their youth. Speaking of time travel, our pick of the range is the Back to the Future Time Machine set. This can be configured in three different ways to reflect how Doc Brown’s DeLorean looked in each part of the trilogy and even comes complete with a hover board.

Goodwood tree bauble

The Goodwood Revival shop is a treasure trove of gifts for motoring enthusiasts; there is something on offer to suit everyone from keyrings and mugs to overalls and t-shirts. For a particularly festive gift, we reckon a Goodwood Christmas bauble could become the centre piece of your recipient’s tree for years to come.

Boring Car Trivia 4

The fourth book in the series has cleverly got a Renault 4 sketched on the cover, genius! Warning: this book is for serious car nerds, so it fits the brief for this list perfectly. Caveat emptor: if you know someone you think would enjoy this, consider carefully whether you are prepared for them to spontaneously start reading bits out to you over Christmas lunch.

Cleaning products

If you need a little time to yourself, why not buy your partner a car cleaning kit. Glipton has a Winter Ready Kit with all sorts of potions and lotions guaranteed to keep them busy for hours. Enough said. Next!

Gaming bundle

Not everyone can be a professional racing driver but with the gift of a PlayStation 5 and Gran Turismo 7 everyone can spend their spare time dreaming. Gran Turismo has been helping people live out their four-wheeled fantasties from the comfort of their sofa for 25 years, allowing gamers to paint and spec their cars ready to race all over the world.

Car battery charger

Every year there is someone that gives you something sensible for Christmas. Whether you receive an emergency torch from your uncle or a first aid kit from your dad, they will inevitably rattle around in the boot of your car waiting for their day to shine. However, there’s no disputing that it’s important to be prepared. So, top on the list of useful gifts is a car battery charger. This year you could be that practical gift giver who saves your loved ones from the perils of a flat battery.

Bentley fragrances

Bentley has a large collection of fragrances, condensing the brand’s true spirit into a simple bottle. The bottles themselves are works of art made of cut glass, embossed with the Bentley emblem and with a hand stitched leather cap on top. Digging around the website you will find both his and hers collections with scents that can take you on a journey around the world. It’ll be like you’ve been generous enough to gift a holiday. Ish.

A drivable scale model car

A rather extravagant option but if your budget allows, the fully drivable scale cars from The Little Car Company will be a gift they’ll always remember. Exquisitely built in partnership with the likes of Bentley, Aston Martin, and Ferrari, these junior models are electric and, with a limited top speed, road legal. There is even a James Bond inspired DB5 Junior equipped with gadgets fit for any aspiring spy

A Ferrari

If you are worried that a miniature car might make you look cheap, we suggest that you get them the real thing. Gifting a Ferrari is your only option. We recommend the Roma Spider as an excellent choice that will look beautiful parked next to the Lambo you gave them last year. As a car is quite difficult to wrap and won’t fit under the tree you could compliment your gift with a limited-edition photographic book about Ferrari from Taschen.
