Proton Savvy hatchback

Proton Savvy 1.2 Style Hatchback 5dr Petrol Manual (134 g/km, 75 bhp) Hatchback (2005 - ) expert review

The Proton Savvy looks and feels like a car from a bygone era. Yes, it's cheap, but countless rivals are just as cheap and offer you much, much more. Go for one of those instead.

Proton Satria Neo hatchback

Proton Satria Neo 1.6 GSX Hatchback 3dr Petrol Manual (157 g/km, 110 bhp) Hatchback (2007 - ) expert review

The Proton Satria Neo is a handsome supermini with impressive handling, but its has too many shortcomings for us to recommend. It's short of safety kit, is cramped and noisy, and has a low-quality interior. Plenty of similarly priced rivals are far better.

Proton Gen-2 hatchback

Proton GEN-2 1.6 GSX Hatchback 5dr Petrol Manual (169 g/km, 110 bhp) Hatchback (2004 - ) expert review

The Proton Gen-2 is a no-nonsense hatchback which rivals models including the Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Cruze. Choose the ecoLogic model and it will run on cheap LPG gas as well as petrol.
