The Proton Savvy is a basic small hatchback and one of the cheapest new cars on sale. It is unrefined and looks very dated, particularly with its flimsy-feeling cabin.

The Proton Satria Neo is a handsome supermini with impressive handling developed by Lotus. Sadly it lacks much safety kit, is cramped, noisy and has a plasticy interior.

Proton Gen-2 car review
Proton is a car maker with big ambitions. It's expanding the number of dealers around the country, so you can expect to see more of them on the roads. The Gen-2 is a handsome Focus-sized hatchback with suspension tuned by Lotus. So with that in mind, and 600 miles of driving in front of us, we took to the road.
