The i3 doesn’t address the most fundamental issue with electric cars – their limited range – but if an electric car can fit into your lifestyle, then the i3 is very desirable. There are cheaper rivals, but the BMW has a premium feel that justifies the extra it costs

The BMW 4 Series coupe is the artist formally known as the BMW 3 Series coupe. BMW has creamed off the two-door versions of its 3 Series to offer better model delineation and more exclusivity. New name aside, it remains the dynamic benchmark in its category and, for the first time, is available with four-wheel drive as well as rear-wheel drive.

The BMW 3 Series GT, or 3GT, is the latest model to expand the repertoire of the UK’s benchmark executive saloon. Sitting at the pricier end of the 3 Series range, it attempts to combine the prestige of the saloon and practicality of the Touring with the rear space of a 5 Series to offer more emphasis on comfort, luxury and refinement.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé goes head to head with the Mercedes CLS, Porsche Panamera and Audi A7. As such, it's a sporting saloon with coupé-like styling that's stylish and swift. It comes with lots of kit and a high-quality interior. Highly recommended.

The BMW 6 Series Convertible is set to challenge the UK sales dominance of the Jaguar XK. It feels better built and will be cheaper to run, but it just loses out on the Jag’s charm.

The wraps have been taken off the new BMW X4, a coupé-flavoured SUV based on the X3. It is set to follow in the footsteps of the larger X6, itself based on the X5, in combining the raised ride height and driving position of a 4x4 with the sportier styling, swooping roofline and hatchback tail of a four-door coupé.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the first-ever front-wheel drive BMW, and the first to include three-cylinder engines in its line-up. Its body style is that of a small five-seat MPV, so it will be aimed squarely at families.

After much deliberation, the BMW i3 has been crowned the first official UK Car of the Year. It lifted the top prize after also winning the ‘Best Supermini’ category. There were ten other category winners, while the Ford Fiesta ST finished as the runner-up overall, while the Skoda Octavia Estate and Jaguar F-Type shared third place.
