Full pricing and specifications for the new Skoda Octavia have been announced. The family hatch will start at £15,990, putting it head to head against the Vauxhall Astra, Renault Megane and Hyundai i30, as well as its Volkswagen Group stablemates, the Seat Leon and VW Golf.
The cheapest model in the range is the 1.2 TSI in ‘S’ trim. At this trim level, the car comes equipped with a 103bhp, 1.2-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine with a six-speed manual gearbox. You also get 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, DAB radio, Automatic Post-Collision Braking, a plethora of airbags, stop/start and a touchscreen infotainment system. A seven-speed DSG gearbox is also available with this engine at this trim level, for a £1,350 premium. The other engine available in ‘S’ trim is the 103bhp 1.6-litre TDI.
Next up is SE, which, over and above the base model, gets rear parking sensors, a driver fatigue detection system, driving mode selection (eco/comfort/sport/custom), dual-zone air conditioning and TPM+ tyre pressure monitors. This trim model is available with the same engines as the S, with the addition of the 1.4-litre TSI petrol four-cylinder and a 2.0-litre, 148bhp diesel engine. All engines are available with a seven-speed DSG gearbox, as well as a six-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed ‘box on the 1.6-litre diesel. Pricing for the SE starts at £17,190.
The top-spec model is the Elegance, which benefits from sat-nav, 17-inch alloys, leather and alcantara trim, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, cruise control, telescopic headlight washers and high beam assist. The base engine available with this trim is the 1.4-litre TSI petrol, with the 1.6 and 2.0-litre diesels also available. Pricing for Elegance models starts at £20,240.
The new Octavia will go on sale in the UK on March 16, with prices ranging from £15,990 to £23,240. Auto Trader has just had its first drive of the new car and the Expert Review will be live on the website tomorrow.
