• Subaru Forester gets five-star EuroNCAP rating
• Strong occupant protection scores
• Impressive pedestrian protection rating
The all-new Subaru Forester has been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by crash-testing authority EuroNCAP. The new 4×4 will be on sale in the UK from Summer next year.
Scoring 91 per cent in both adult and child occupancy tests, the Forester is one of the safest cars available in terms of protecting its passengers, both old and young thanks to increased strength in the chassis, which dissipates the energy from a crash around the passenger cell.
For a 4×4, the Forester also scored highly in the pedestrian impact test, with a score of 73 per cent, whereas rivals such as the Kia Sportage and BMW X3 could only manage scores of 49 and 53 per cent respectively.
The Subaru’s active safety systems also helped the Forester to achieve such a rating, with four-wheel drive and ESP as standard, the Forester scored 86 per cent in the ‘Safety Assist’ category.
Haydn Davies, marketing director, Subaru UK, commented: “This is a strong result for a model that has consistently been one of our best-sellers, and the all-new Forester’s active, passive and hazard avoidance technologies will make it one of the safest cars on and off the road.”
